SXSW Watchlist: David Vandervelde

A couple years ago, songwriting man David Vandervelde dropped his beautiful album Waiting for the Sunrise on our ears and we’ve been following him ever since.  David has been fairly quiet since that release, but just recently dropped some new tracks that will supposedly appear on an upcoming album.  Checking out a live set by Vandervelde should be a great time to hear some of this new material before it’s physically released.  Vandervelde, always the jokester, answered a few of our SXSW questions to build up some hype before he hits Austin.  You can see his brief and to the point responses after the jump.

ATH: We’re still rather early in 2010, so what are your band’s expectations or hopes for the rest of the year?

David: Keep not sucking.

ATH: Are there any bands you want to see while you’re in town for SXSW, or are you just going to go with the flow?

ATH: Going with the flow… Dr. Dog.

ATH: If you were creating a festival, who are the headlining acts? Who would never be allowed to play?

David: Tom petty, neil young….Grizzly Bear would not play.

ATH: We have three options: BBQ, Tacos, Beer.  Which is the most important to you on your visit to Austin?

David: All are good I guess?

ATH: What’s the one thing your band couldn’t live without on tour?

David: Clean socks.

Thanks for the time David.  Free opporuntity to see Vandervelde(anybody got more?):
