Show Review: Kid Sister @ The Mohawk (06/04)

Chicago party-rapper Kid Sister stopped by The Mohawk Friday night and put on a high energy performance for glam rock Austin fans. Opener Perseph One free-styled fierce lyrics over heavy bass, followed by lively hip hop troupe Riders Against The Storm.

Kid Sister started out with her current single “Right Hand Hi” and got the crowd dancing and singing along. She sported tricked out nails, an “Austin 3:16” shirt and busted out her well-known dance moves without losing any enthusiasm. Kanye backed “Pro Nails” and other previous singles like “Control” show why Kid Sis has such a strong dance music fan base. She also performed a few new hip hop tracks she recorded with Paul Wall that feature more of an “old school” feel than her current album. Kid Sister has depended on underground DJs and producers such as her brother’s duo-team Flosstradamus, and has become queen of the dance scene. Despite the humid Texas weather and joking about the sweat- inducing heat, Kid Sister sounded fresh as ever.
