FFF Battles: Gwar vs Dirty Projectors

Whoa there! We have to choose?  Sadly, yes.  I mean, you can pull the old switcharoo, and go back and forth, but to really get both of these bands, you should probably stay at both.  Here’s where I think you should go…

So Gwar have been at it forever, spraying countless millions with penguin semen and the blood of the gods.  There music has always seemed to remain somewhat secondary to their live stage act, but that’s always been okay with us, knowing we won’t leave a Gwar show without a little fake blood staining our clothes.

On the flipside, you have The Dirty Projectors, who’ve been winning over critics and fans alike with their incredible harmonies, odd time signatures and artful craftiness. Not to mention, Amber Coffman is both gorgeous in looks and voice.  Seems like this band, and their role in the current scene, are a must see, right?

Well, here’s my plan. I’m going to spend most of my time with The Dirty Projectors; I love their tunes, and I have great memories of their live performances.  But, just as their set is seemingly winding down, I’m darting off to the Gwar stage, as I’m sure their final minutes will leave me, and you, soaked in semen, blood and guts for the remainder of the evening.  I mean, I don’t mind their music, but I do love semen and guts.  Did I just say that? The benefit of the 7:50 time slot also allows me to only have one remaining band left to see, so I don’t have to stand around in said guts for the whole day, just another hour or so.  There you have it…musically, you should be at The Dirty Projectors, at least give them 30 minutes, but then run over to Gwar, enjoy the show itself, and prep for last call at Day One.
