SXSW Interview: Turf War

You all know that the ATL has a really solid rock n’ roll scene, and they’ve been sending out bands left and right to help take over the world.  Turf War is another one of those acts, kicking out some really awesome hits.  We caught up with John Robinson before the group head our way.

ATH: What is the most challenging thing about being a band during SXSW or another similar festival?

John: Running around like a chicken with your head cut off. Trying to find parking

ATH:  What are some tips you would offer newbie bands to survive during SXSW or just in general on tour?

John: Don’t drink too much. It ain’t no skrimage match. Gotta be ready to move all day long.

ATH: What music are you guys currently jamming in your tour bus?

John: What’s a tour bus……..we’ve been listening to a lot of 90s stuff recently. Mainly Nirvana

ATH:  Who wins the Euro Cup this summer? It’s okay to tell us you hate soccer.

John: If I cared about a sport it wouldn’t be soccer.

ATH: Due to licensing, you’ve had to change the band name, or else you get sued! What do you change it to?

John: Blooddawg and the Turkeydawg Dogs.

ATH:  It’s fairly early in the musical year.  What’s in store for your band before the world ends in December?

John: Lots of touring. Working on a lot of new material. We plan to record throughout the year.

ATH: What’s the best pre-show beverage for the band? Let’s get brand specific! And, what’s the worst free shot we can buy you at SXSW?

John: We drink whatever is cheap at the bar. Usually pbr. Worst shot would probably be any shots. We bad on the brown party liquor

ATH: Being out on tour, what’s the one thing you miss about being back at home?

John: I miss my wife. And my pets. Pooping in my house. Not having to level up in bathrooms.

ATH: Best band of all time is….?

John: I have no clue. The Stones are the coolest. Beatles are probably the best. Nirvana and The Replacements are my favorites. Who cares? It’s all just somebodies opinion. Listen to whoever you want. Eat yo wheaties.
