SXSW Interview: Seapony

Last year Seapony seemingly came out of nowhere, casting their dream pop across the globe, and definitely won some hearts over here at Austin Town Hall.  Their record, Go With Me, on Hardly Art still plays on at my house non-stop. We caught up with the band before they head our way (and play our show!). They’ll be at our party at 2:45, so be sure not to miss it!  ATH:  What is the most challenging thing about being a band during SXSW or another similar festival?

Seapony: Coping with anxiety/trying not to vomit.

ATH:  What are some tips you would offer newbie bands to survive during SXSW or just in general on tour?

Seapony: Know your limits.

ATH:  What music are you guys currently jamming in your tour bus?

Seapony: Cy & Caito cassette has been stuck in the tape deck for two years but it’s still goooooooddddd. Also it’s a car not a bus.

ATH: Who wins the Euro Cup this summer? It’s okay to tell us you hate soccer.

Seapony: I hate soccer.

ATH: Due to licensing, you’ve had to change the band name, or else you get sued! What do you change it to?

Seapony: Banapples

ATH:  It’s fairly early in the musical year. What’s in store for your band before the world ends in December?

Seapony: We’ve been working on a new record and it should be out before that happens!

ATH:  What’s the best pre-show beverage for the band? Let’s get brand specific! And, what’s the worst free shot we can buy you at SXSW?

Seapony: Aqua Fina!!! Don’t buy us booze please!!!

ATH: Being out on tour, what’s the one thing you miss about being back at home?

Seapony: Eating pizza in bed.

ATH:  Best band of all time is….?

Seapony: PUPPIES!!!!
