ACL Interviews: Bad Books

Let us continue with even more ACL coverage today with more interviews coming your way from festival artists.  Today our interview is coming your way from indie supergroup Bad Books.  Now the festival may be over, but you can still read about how bands would plan their own festival, the current status of their band, and tons of other things.  Read on for interview questions and responses.

ATH: Ok so for question i like to ask groups of your kind… Do you consider yourself a supergroup?

BB: I mean, that is a heavy duty tag. Tons of pressure and feels just a teensy touch absurd.  That said, of fucking course.

ATH: Speaking of supergroups, who is your all time favorite?

BB: The Incredicats, The Little Lohans, Old Dave & His Battalion of Legitimate Medical Miracles.  Three way tie.

ATH: Haven’t had the chance to see you guys live before, do you play things from each other’s catalogue? Is it all even steven?

BB: This time around we really focus on Bad Books since we have enough material. If need be, we can still pull out some Manchester and Kevin stuff as well.

ATH: What’s the plan for the band?  Will you guys continue to make music together or go about your business with solo careers, Manchester Orchestra, etc.?

BB: So far, the plan is to just take it as it comes. I think the records speak for themselves, and feel like we took a leap with this new one.  As long as that continues to be the case, and it’s still fun to visit, I think we’ll keep doing it as time allows.

On to some fun festival questions….

ATH: You have just been given the responsibility of re-forming the ACL lineup.  What would be a dream lineup for you?  You’re the middle act and you need to add 4-5 bands.

BB: These answers would be different literally daily, but right this minute, The Front Bottoms & Koufax before us, Sinead O’Connor, Dylan, Radiohead after. I left out dead people and I’d pick setlists.

ATH: Had a chance to check out the festival lineup?  Anyone you’re pumped about seeing or visiting with?

BB: Neil Young!  Iggy & The Stooges.  I liked the First Aid Kit record a lot.  I’m sure plenty more but I haven’t had the chance to explore a ton yet.

ATH: What would be your campaign slogan to pick you at the festival?

BB: Bad Books – WHATEVER

Thanks again gents for making some time for us!
