Lost in Austin: Cave Singers

Wow, it’s been way too long since we’ve managed to shoot one of our world famous Lost in Austin videos with Guerilla Waltz.  Almost a year to be exact, since we last ran the incredible video of Suckers at Red 7.  Well today is a turning point in the series, as we jump start a new era for our takeaway videos with longtime ATH favorite Cave Singers.  Follow the jump for full description and video.

When discussing options to get back in the game with our takeaway videos, Cave Singers seemed like a perfect fit with their folky/country/blues inspired music.  Even better, the band was stopping into town last weekend at Red 7 so all the pieces fell into place perfectly.

We couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of guys to work with.  Everyone in the band was super friendly and open to suggestions from Dillon and the video crew.  Listen closely at the beginning of the video and you’ll hear what is basically a verbal contract to start a screamo metal band called “Cage Singers” with RayRay as lead singer.  When’s the first practice?

Check out Cave Singers stripped down version of “Easy Way” off of brand new album Naomi in stores now below.  Thanks are due to both Cave Singers and the boys from Guerilla Waltz.

  • Unsure if Nathan Lankford remembers me from his eighth grade Language Arts class in 2009-10 (if it jogs your memory, you used to call me Ribbons for whatever reason), but I just wanted to let you know that I’ve been doing great. I actually use this blog to keep up with what’s going on in my city since I had to move away. I found this article because I’m writing a piece about this band for my high school newspaper.

Anyway, thanks for the awesome kickstart to my realization that I want to be a writer in the future. Your class was the first to truly challenge me and force me out of my comfort zone. I’m not sure if I would have gotten into the Columbia writing program for high school students if not for that class when I was fourteen.

Let me know if I can please link your site on my newspaper so that the readers can watch you guys’ awesome videos and read interviews.
