Grupo Fantasma will be bringing their brand of Latin dance music to Antones this Saturday night. Tickets for the event are $16 and can be found on the Antones ticket page. Show time is set for 9pm. Preview the show below with the song “Gimme Some” off their 2008 album Sonidos Gold.
The show on Saturday kicked off bemba entertainment with a fantastic performance by Monterrey’s own, 60 Tigres. They lit up the night with funky bass lines, searing guitar riffs, and a percussion that commanded bodies to move in ways they never thought.

Our Canadian friends Wolf Parade will be bringing their rock to La Zona Rosa in Austin on Friday night. The show is set to kick off at 9pm and you can get your tickets now for only $20 bucks. ATH favorite Calexico has a new song available for download off their forthcoming album Carried to Dust due out September 9th. The song is called “two silver trees” and you can hear it below. The album is said to feature Sam Bean of Iron & Wine among others. Read more about Calexico at Casa de Calexico and for those of you that don’t “habla español”, that means “House of Calexico”.

I got pretty excited this morning when I read that Sera Cahoone recently played some songs live on the NPR “Tiny Desk Sets”. You can watch the 5 song live video on the NPR website. The video confirms that Sera is my favorite new find of 2008.
