ACL continues to draw ever closer and we here at ATH are starting to get hyped up for the festival. In preparation, we had an opportunity to send some questions over to Walter Gervers of Oxford band Foals. We really dig the sound these guys have created on their two album career so we were excited to hear what they have to say about their music. Follow the jump for more.
So leading up to our little ACL festival next month, we here at ATH will yet again be bringing you as many interviews as we possibly can. We’ll put our focus on some of the mid-level bands along with a few planned big name guys. To kick off our coverage of the festival, we begin with an interview with an old ATH favorite Portugal. The Man. We had the chance to sit down with keyboard player/vocalist Ryan Neighbors and discuss the state of his band. Follow the jump to read this great interview with a great band.
We jumped at the chance to sit down with Dave Lovering, drummer for The Pixies, prior to their trip to Austin. I chatted him up about his magic career, touring and, well, just about everything in between. Thanks so much to Dave for the opportunity; your graciousness is much appreciated. As we lead up to our little ACL Festival in October, we here at ATH want to start focusing in on some of the lesser known acts coming into town. Our first look brings us Glendale, CA based indie group The Henry Clay People. Lucky for you and the ATH crew, this band will be making a stop in town next week with Against Me! before their ACL Festival slotted date. To preview that show and their ACL appearance, we spoke with band member Joey about their current tour and their brand new LP Somewhere on the Golden Coast. Follow the jump to read full interview.
Last week we brought you new of a new album from local popsters Hollywood Gossip, and we were fortunate enough to get an interview with the band’s Tyler Womack and Justin Crowell. This should give you a bit more insight into the group, as well as ideas about their new album Dear as Diamonds. At the bottom of the interview, you can catch info on the band’s CD Release this Saturday, June 19th. Follow the jump for more.
Little is known about Hotlanta band Twin Tigers other than us knowing that we dig their tunes. That music loving side of us therefore lead us to believe that you guys should really get to know this band and learn a little about them. So way back during Fun Fest, Twin Tigers made it through town and we had the chance to speak with frontman Mathew Rain about his band. I know, leave it to us to take our sweet time posting this one, but we hope you find it worthwhile. Follow the jump for full interview with Twin Tigers.
Ever since the first time I heard “Jordanna,” I was possessed with the songs of David Wingo. His group, Ola Podrida, has just released their newest album, Belly of the Lion, which is one of the best albums to come out of Austin (well, sort of NYC) this year, and we were lucky enough to catch up with David before he hits the road in 2010. We had the incredible opportunity this week to speak with solo songwriter J. Tillman about his musical endeavors. Mr. Tillman talks about his new solo record Year in the Kingdom and his work with indie powerhouse Fleet Foxes. This interview should serve as a nice preview to the J. Tillman show coming up on Friday at Mohawk. Follow the jump for full interview.
