The Holydrug Couple Share A Hazy Delight

The Holydrug Couple are on their way to releasing a new album on Sacred Bones Records, and today we’re graced with another lovely single from Hyper Super Mega. This new number, “Forever End” is a sweeping psych number–lush synths and a groovy bass line hold your hand throughout. The vocals are high pitched and chime in like another line of synth, creating a whirlwind of hazy sounds that all spiral into a hypnotizing sound towards the end of the song. Safe to say we’re pretty excited for the release ofHyper Super Megaon September 14–preorder here.

Let’s Do One More From Jack Drag

Lot’s of quality albums will be hitting the streets this month, one of which is the new joint from John Dragonetti and his project known as Jack Drag. Having heard the record in full as the really cool blogger I am, I can tell you that it is hot, on fire, and full of hit after hit. It seriously might be one of my favorite pop albums to come out in a long long time. Keep in mind we don’t listen to lot of traditional pop like Beyonce or Carly Rae so it’s going to be a little bit left of center, just like us. If my words aren’t enough for you to trust his new work, check out his third single from the release below and tell me you aren’t excited. You will need to own this.

Drag will release 2018 on September 14th via Burger Records.

Have Another From Tim Cohen

Our dear amigo Tim Cohen has quickly established himself as someone who is in the “can do no wrong” category at this point in his musical career. Wether it be his work in Fresh & Onlys, or as a solo musician, the guy’s music is loved by the entire ATH staff. Currently working on a new solo album, we’ve already heard “Goodness” from the LP, and now he’s offered up another new single called “I’m a Girl”. I shall let the single speak for itself and just say that you should most definitely check out this album when it drops. Educate yourself.

Tim Cohen will release new album The Modern World on September 28th via Sinderlyn.

Song Premiere: Top Nachos

The weekend is near and it’s time we all take ourselves a little seriously and enjoy a carefree rock tune. If that sounds like something interesting to you, New Paltz, NY band Top Nachos will deliver with this jamming new song “Vegan Doughnuts”. If it isn’t abundantly clear by their band name, tend to not take themselves too seriously en route to some genius slacker style garage rock. More of this please.

Top Nachos will release a new album entitled Dank Side of the Moon on September 27th via King Pizza Records. (pre-order is up now)

We would also be remiss to not mention the upcoming release show in Brooklyn at Trans Pecos on September 27th. More info here.

The Twilight Sad Announce New Album

…and have a new release to share, as well.

I am now officially on the hype train for this new record. The Twilight Sad have been a band that have always carried a weight around with them, but it seems they have found away to distribute that weight a bit in their recent track that had no tie in to an upcoming record. We learn that Andy and James, the driving force behind The Twilight Sad have, in fact shared the load a bit by adding the “touring” members of the band Brendan Smith and Johnny Docherty into the studio for production.

Today, we get another fantastic preview to the new record that instead of building, it smolders in a dark wave melody. The new record called IT WON/T BE LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME will be releases on Rock Action on January 18th, pre-order here.

Straight Rock From Dead Soft

More often than not, I like to kick it old school with my musical tastes. Ya know some old emo/post-emo style tunes or throwbacks to 90s era grunge/alt-rock are sure to pull at my heart strings. Well my friends in Vancouver based band Dead Soft deliver the later style today with this new song “Down”. It’s certainly a grunge, alternative rock song similar to something you might have heard on the indie stations back in the late 90s. Bing bang boom.

Dead Soft will release their latest EP New Emotion on October 5th via Arts & Crafts.

Experimental Pop From Airhead DC

Washington, D.C. native Vishal Narang has been working on his project known as Airhead DC for several years now and he has just announced a new album under the moniker. Previewing the new material is this new single called “Honey-Colored Flame Blown Off My Candle” which is a delightful bit of melodic, experimental pop music. It’s like if Generationals had a bit more guitar and some fancy lady vocals as well. I dig.

Airhead DC will release new album Crush Hi on October 26th via Danger Collective Records.

The Birthday Letters Drift Towards Indiepop

When I first remember listening to the Birthday Letters, they definitely seemed to have more of a folk influence in the songwriting. But, now the band have returned with a brand new track, this time giving us a glimpse of shimmering indiepop. They’ve added a keyboard player this round, which ends up fleshing out the band’s sound, allowing Joseph Hughes to play his gentle vocals atop the mix. I love the mix on this track, utilizing slight acoustic guitar, a shaker and synthy drum vibes to add textural depth to the tune. This song will appear on the group’s Mythos Pathos EP.

Borzoi Back with Another Single

Borzoi are set to announce themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the music community. They’re brandishing a blend of noise and hardcore, but sculpting it with a slight art-school bend; it might even be fair to compare them to the early work of Shellac. Still, even that isn’t doing their recent work justice. Here they offer that sound, infusing their style with a primal urgency, creating a sense of imminent danger out of thin air. Creativity and noise can work together, as we’ll surely witness when the group drop A Prayer for War on September 21st via 12XU.

Bright New Single From The Fur.

Happy Tuesday like a Monday to all of you musical peeps out there making it back after a long weekend. Anyone feeling a little down in the dumps back at work today should check out this new song “Short Stay” from Taiwanese band The Fur. It’s a lovely bit of indie pop that sounds more like something you’d hear coming out of somewhere in the UK. The voice alone is sure to brighten your day.

The Fur. will release new album Town on September 30th via Airhead Records.
