ACL Interview: Amason

amasonCompared to yesterday, I’m already feeling a bit more prepared for ACL coming up in a couple of weekends.  As we do every year, we’ll be working hard trying to interview as many bands will have us leading up to the festival.  Today I’m pumped to be kicking things off with new Swedish super group Amason.  Band member Nils Tornqvist was kind enough to answer a few of my burning questions.  Follow the jump for more.

ACL Preview: Rey Pila

Rey Pila

Once again ACL Festival weekend has crept ever closer and I can’t say I’m fully ready just yet.  Of course I still have a couple of weeks to prep which should be plenty of time to get my mind and body ready for another festival.  As always, we will do our best to offer some advice, spotlight some bands we like, and also interview those bands we like.  So today I’m going to begin my coverage with a short bit on my current favorite band out of Mexico, Rey Pila.  Follow the jump for more.

ACL Single Day Tickets

2befba5e-6a7f-4a91-9771-4c275dcb0b1fNot to be out done by FFFX, ACL Fest has released the daily lineups and opened the store for single day tix. With all three day passes sold out, this is your only access to the fest barring you get brave and start jumping fences (i.e. get slapped around by security).

As for the daily lineups, Friday is pretty stacked with several of the festival band faves for Team ATH with Foo Fighters, Tame Impala, Gary Clark Jr., Albert Hammond Jr. and Mr. Billy Idol. The Strokes will finish out the fest on Sunday and Saturday seems a good night to get aftershow tickets and bail out early.

Buy your single day tickets here. Check the daily lists, Weekend One and Weekend Two.

ACL Lineup Is Here!

untitledThough the lineup unofficially leaked yesterday, we were holding off to make sure everything was all official and whatnot before posting anything.  So if you haven’t seen it yet, the ACL lineup was just announced this morning for both of the festival weekends.  Of course ATH is excited about seeing The Strokes again, but as usual, we’re enjoying the undercards with groups like Kurt Vile, Waxahatchee, Talk in Tongues, Jose Gonzalez, etc.  Check out the full lineup here and form your own opinions.

You can also pick up a 3 day pass at 10am central time by following this link.  Do it.

Show Review: The War On Drugs ACL Taping 04/06

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

Last year’s Lost In The Dream took The War On Drugs’ claim to fame to a whole new level, landing them atop most year end lists as well as a longtime spot in my personal listening catalogue. So naturally the folks over at ACL TV wanted to catch Adam Granduciel and company at the height of their musical career so far and get them on for a taping, which resulted in a short night of tunes mostly from that newest album. Read on for more thoughts on the night.

ATH & ACL: 5 Bands to Watch

acl2014It is time.  Though it’s hard for me to believe, it’s time for us to start gearing up for yet another ACL Festival in October.  ATH has done this thing a few times now so we feel like we’ve earned the right to offer a little bit of advice about bands to see and the proper way to go about attending.  I’m jumping off our coverage today with a list of 5 bands I think you should see over the 2 weekend event.  As a disclaimer, I typically recommend bands that many people either don’t know very well or write off for whatever reason.  So yeah go see Spoon & The Replacements for sure, but let’s not forget about the underdogs.  Let it begin after the jump.
