ATH Records is really proud of this collections jams.
Feverbones just released their latest, DREAM TALK. If I were to classify this record, it would be indie pop for music nerds, but aren’t we all. There are minor chords and challenging progressions that can only really be afforded by really strong musicians. Add to that thoughtful lyrics and great harmonies, you have a recipe for one of your favorite records.
There were two lucky bands that joined on stage in Toma and Palm Daze. In the crowd, I saw members of several local bands. We had a close-knit group of local legends, venue heroes, overlapping voices and lovely friends.

The 101x Homegrown Live series continues their trend of solid local shows with another one set for Saturday night at the Mohawk featuring headliners Octopus Project. The now veteran locals will be joined on the stage by fellow locals Tia Carrera and Mother Falcon. After the early show wraps up, the inside stage will feature sets by Record Hop and Sundress. Anyone living in Austin that hasn’t seen Octopus Project live, needs to get off their ass and make it to this show. In the meantime, check out an interview we did the guys (and gal) a couple years ago during ACL. I’m also gonna post an old favorite tune of mine in hopes that they play it on Saturday.

101x is putting on another Homegrown live at Scoot Inn on Wednesday and features What Made Milwaukee Famous front-man Michael Kingcaid performing with The Motts. Fellow locals TV Torso and Western Ghost House will be joining in for support. Sorry for the lack of info on door times and price, but I tried my best. I LOVE it when no one seems to know shit about an event put on by a big local radio station. Seriously. Anyone have more details?

First off, the lineup is outta site with The Ting Tings, Black Kids, Eagles of Death Metal, Airborne Toxic Event, and even local boys The Black and White Years on the bill for the event. In all fairness 101x does have a rather good show on Sundays called The Next Big Thing. I’m afraid thats the only nice thing I have to say about 101x. Unless, of course, 101x wants to purchase a large amount of ad space on Austin Town Hall, in which case we are the biggest 101x fans around!
