No Suits in Miami Sign with Shelflife

We’re big fans of Swedish hitmakers No Suits in Miami, and it looks like we’re not the only ones out there, as the group just announced they’re signing up with Shelflife to help release their new record. We’ve covered a few of the singles attached below, but when groups you love go big, you’ve got to send out a reminder. The four songs below all offer a tethered dream pop vibe, though I think each one illustrates the diversity the group aim to bring to Nothing Ever Happens; I think I’m definitely backing “Buffy” as one of my favorite tunes on this whole LP. The whole album drops on March 25th, but pressing play below allows you to sample four great pop tunes!

Bombshell Nightlight Ready Blue Heron Above Me LP

Our good friends over at Anything Bagel have a new release lined up for you just before the year draws to a close; the new LP from Bombshell Nightlight. The project is the work of Missoula’s Jon Cardiello, getting by with a little bit of help from his friends. For me, listening through this album sampler, its his voice that stands steady in the storm; it ties the listener to every nook and cranny. But, what I’ve been marveling at is the ebb and flow of these three tracks; they carry this unique ability to swell with pop melodies and little details that give the tunes a depth you don’t always get with the songwriter fare. The entirety of this listen is an ode to the struggles Jon faced in his mid-20s, from breakups to new love to the death of his father; its as relatable and intimate as you’re going to get! Blue Heron Above Me drops on December 4th!

Slumberland Records to Reissue East Village Hotrod Hotel LP

First, I’d like to thank Slumberland Records for the excellent 30 Year Single Series. I paid for it, as it is one of my favorite labels, and then forgot, except when the occasional package shows up on my doorstep with delicious pop treats! Is it over? I don’t know? If so, I scored some great hits! Second, the label in the last few years has dabbled in reissuing some great stuff…the Wolfhounds, the Springfields…and now East Village. To be honest, while I should know the band, I have no idea who they are other (other than a few short paragraphs on the Cloudberry blog long ago), but I find the sampler of their Hotel Hotrod reissue to be quite up my alley. Charming and warm, lightly jangling and of the indiepop persuasion…so yes, I’m picking this up too! If Papa Slumberland can get his hands on that Another Sunny Day compilation, I’ll be quite thankful. Go check out East Village; the reissue drops on January 24th.

Wake Up with the Popguns

popIt’s always nice to get a little energy boost of delightful happiness through the music you listen to, which is why you should sit back and start your day off with this little sampler from the new album from The Popguns.  Pop Fiction has been in the works for the last year or so, with the band releasing a few singles from their label, Matinee Recordings, but now we get to hear a little bit more from the band.  There’s melodies, hooks and that classic indiepop sound that makes guys and girls swoon. The album hits stores on December 2nd, but you can pick it up now if you’d like to get your hands on it early.  Seems like the best gift for your friends before the holidays.
