Usually a show we’re interested in attending rarely goes the route of Antones, but a venue known for its pristine seemed like the exact place one would want to witness the soaring sounds of Camera Obscura. We set out with open minds, looking forward to hearing some of our favorite tracks of the year live. Follow the jump to read more and see some fancy pics.
We’ve had our calendars marked for Camera Obscura coming to town ever since we fell in love with their new release My Maudlin Career. So now the time is here and lucky for all us fans, the Glasgow band is playing two shows on Monday! First up is an intimate stripped down Camera set at Waterloo Records around 1pm. Second is a full on proper set around 9pm at Antone’s downtown. Hellz yeah! The late night show features opening support from Anni Rossi and an entrance fee of $20. This summer I went back in time and rediscovered classic reggae, and by that, I mean the stuff that goes beyond the adoration for Bob Marley. Apparently it all had a great deal to do with the evolution in British punk, as well as that late 90s ska scene over on this continent. In that rediscovery lay the much heralded Toots, who some of you might remember from ACL a few years back. Lucky for me, he is playing tomorrow night at Antones w/ Outlaw Nation. Doors are at 8 PM.
