I’ve already caught one amazing show over at the Mohawk this week, but even that might not compare to the gloriousness that will be this Toro y Moi show. Chaz has been putting out effortless pop tunes for some time, and lately he’s been playing with a full-on band, which always entertains. As if that wasn’t enough to get you there, new indie darlings Unknown Mortal Orchestra will be bringing their quirky pop jams to the stage just before, getting you a chance to see one of the new “best” bands around. Oh, and did I mention that my favorites, Bass Drum of Death, are going to kick the whole night off? Well, you gotta be there; there’s not another option.

One hell of a rock show is going down this evening on the Mohawk inside stage. The short but stacked lineup features rock n roll music from Japandroids and Bass Drum of Death. Needless to say, this show will be loud and a whole lot of fun. Be there.

Seems like Friday is the night for me at Psych Fest, but rest assured, there are plenty of great acts all weekend long such as The Soft Moon and Fresh & Onlys. One of the bands I’m most excited to catch is Bass Drum of Death. Read more
Not really sure how I feel about the name of this group from Mississippi, but I’m definitely positive that I’m feeling their raucous tunes. Bass Drum of Death will be releasing their album GB City through Inflated Records on February 22nd. Listening to the album’s single, it recalls a more energetic Black Rebel Motorcycle Club back in the early days, bringing plenty of pounding rhythmic grooves wrapped inside of an edgy wall of noise. This appears to be the year when slinging the rock kicks back into gear full time, and Bass Drum of Death is just going to bring it twice as loud. Check it out, you know you wanna.
