Slack Times Share Look Away + Announce LP

If you actually read this site, then I reckon you’ve liked seen Slack Times pop up on our radar previously, particularly as we made a nod to their At the Blue Melon Rendezvous and its Athens influences. Well, today we’re here with the news of their new compilation record, which will include 6 new songs, atop the 8 tracks from their previous EPs. If you don’t find these crystalline guitar jangles hitting the right notes, wait until the handclaps and hip-shaking swagger swing into the chorus to really sell you on the masterful hooks the band use to fill their tunes. Carried Away already has 9 great tunes, so we’re looking forward to the rest if they sound this damned good. The LP is out June 24th via Meritorio Records.

Slack Times Release At the Blue Melon Rendezvous

If you’re looking for a band to root for, I suggest putting Slack Times up on the radar there, as their new At the Blue Melon Rendezvous definitely ups the ante on their first EP, leaving hope that the band get back into the studio to drop more tunes. They were looking to recreate some of the magic of Athens jangling pop, and while they do touch up on there, they also bring in a bit more of an expansive sound…sometimes all at once…like if you listen to “My Time,” which feels like the best punk jam REM never wrote. I think they also sell themselves short in that goal too, as you can clearly hear other regional powerhouses haunting their songs, though I’ll leave that to you to find the musical breadcrumbs. Regardless…rejoice in good EPs, like this one!

Real Banger From Table Scraps

Man when things get busy around here, they really get busy. I’ve been pushing through quite a hectic time with the ol real job recently, but I can always find some time to publish new rock n roll tunes. Today I’m back on the wagon with this real banging garage rock tune called “Sick of Me” from Birmingham, UK based band Table Scraps. This thing is basically a simple, straightforward rock number similar to something you might hear from Ty Segall or the like. You shall enjoy.

Table Scraps will release Autonomy on February 3rd via Zen Ten Records.
