Dinner Announce Dream Work

Ah yes, the much welcomed “I Didn’t Know I Needed This, But I Did” single that drops in your inbox overnight. Today we get news that Dinner is announcing a brand new LP for Captured Tracks titled Dream Work, and there’s even a little hint of Austin on this tune. I actually caught Anders Rhedin in Austin at SXSW a few years back, and was quite impressed with his ability to control a room while working solo. On this tune, you get this real lush little bouncing pop tune, with Rhedin working his vocals, sounding like a wamer Aidan Moffat, so if you’re an early Arab Strap fan please stop in. Rhedin gets some help too with backing vocals from Charlie Hilton of Blouse, adding a little nuance to the tune. This new LP will be out on October 22nd!

SXSW 2014 Interview: Blouse

blouseband-300x295Among the great stable of bands on Captured Tracks is Blouse, who changed things up on the release of their second album, Imperium.  They got rid of the synthesizers and other electronica elements, crafting a more powerful sound. I’ve always enjoyed watching their sets, and I look forward to seeing the live version of these newer tunes when they make it down to SXSW.  Here’s how they answered our interview questions while on the road to Austin. New Music from Blouse

blousesI’m really digging the sound of the new Blouse tracks; this is their second official single for their upcoming record.  While the vocal delivery is seemingly spoken-word for the majority of the track, it takes on a more airy delivery during the chorus.  I really think it’s a good touch, especially considering the rest of the music is subdued, aside from the random bits of water droplets splashing in the background.  Eventually, the song fades away into nothing, which is a nice added touch.  The new record, Imperium, will be out on Captured Tracks on September 17th. Game, Blouses.

Show Preview: Bear in Heaven @ The Parish (4/24)

Date Tuesday, April 24th
Location The Parish
Doors 800 pm
Tickets $14 from Frontgate

Just looking at the opening bill for this show at the Parish on Tuesday should get you excited; both Doldrums and Blouse have made big waves in the indie pond this year, earning new fans and much acclaim.  But, the spotlight surely has to be on Bear in Heaven, a band that continues to push themselves.  Their recent release, I Love You It’s Cool, was exceptional in its construction, coming off a great deal brighter than their earlier effort.  You can also be assured that they’ll bring some elaborate lighting/video with them as they did during their recent SXSW performances.  Put that with the always excellent sound at the Parish and we’re all going to have a great night.

So this is goodbye…

I officially declare SxSW 2012 done with this collection of pics pulled in from showcases. While this isn’t every band I saw, it is every band that I happened to enjoy seeing, other than the Night at the Belmont shots already posted. I still have trouble remembering what happened and when. Is it time to register for next year yet?

Click through and I will share a few thoughts and you will see shots of Solander, Django Django, Blondes, Class Actress, Howler, Blouse, Breton and more…

More New Music from Blouse

Portland-based Blouse have been making their way around the Interwebs with a slew of recent 7″ releases, the most recent coming on Sub Pop. As it stands now, the band’s signed up with Captured Tracks for the release of their self-titled debut, which will be released on November 1st.  This latest single begins with the quality of a warped recording, but if you can withstand that, there’s some blissful pop moments surfing thoughout the song, making for an elegany little listen.  Game, Blouse(s).
