Announcing the ATH vs SOTO SXSW Party

Today’s the day you’ve all been waiting for, the announcement of our annual AustinTownHall vs Side One Track One SXSW party. We’re throwing down at Hotel Vegas/Volstead again, and we’ve booked a pretty solid lineup of acts. We’ve got some bands with huge buzz like Caroline Says or Why Bonnie, a handful of ATH Records artists…and we even got in a few out of town acts like Nite and El Lago. Best news of all? It’s absolutely free, so all you have to do is come on over and just enjoy yourselves…there’s something for everybody. Show kicks off at 2 PM and lasts all day and night. Plus, we love you, so you don’t even have to RSVP! Check out the event page, and plan ahead, you’ll be here all day!

Blushing‘s latest EP, WEAK, was released to the public last Friday and with it, we had an excuse to take over a venue and feature some favorite bands to celebrate. Cheer Up Charlies played host via The Nothing Song who added Ringo Deathstarr, Single Lash and All In The Golden Afternoon to fill the before and after spots.

I focused on spending time with friends, so the gallery is very Blushing-centric, but it was the EP’s brithday party.

Celebrate the Release of Blushing’s Weak EP @ Cheer Ups (1/27)

We’re really really excited to kick of the label side of ATH with our first release of 2018: Blushing‘s Weak EP. It’s a heavy dose of dreamgaze gems, all organized into a handy 12″ record. Several tracks have already garnered raves from the likes of DKFM Radio to the esteemed Gold Flake Paint, so clearly they’ve got something you need. Plus, if you’re in the Austin area, you can catch the band live at their release show at Cheer Up Charlies on Saturday night. It’s a pretty solid bill, with Ringo Deathstarr and Single Lash among bands filling the evening out. Show Preview: Yumi Zouma @ Barracuda (1/13)

If you’re willing to brave the cold; it’s going to be warm inside Barracuda tomorrow night…and not just because it’s indoors. You’re going to get a chance to catch Yumi Zouma touring in support of their most recent album, Willowbank; it’s filled to the brim with hook-laden pop music of the electronic pop sort. Plus, the night will also be filled by two of our favorite local acts, Kay Odyssey and Blushing. We heard that Blushing will probably have their brand new Weak EP on hand before it’s street date, so head there and pick you a copy for yourself.

Feel like we had a banner year for ATH Records last year, but 2018 seems really big (in my mind anyways). I couldn’t think of a better way to start off the new year than with the release of Blushing‘s Weak EP. The band just dropped another of the tracks from the album today, and it’s every bit as enjoyable as the entire EP. Shouldn’t have to go on and on about how much I really enjoy it, so I’ll just leave you with the tune below. You can grab the vinyl version HERE, or pick it up on sweet cassettes over HERE. Show Preview: Shana Falana @ Cheer Up Charlies – TONIGHT

In 2016 Shana Falana released the most excellent Here Comes the Wave, and still riding high on the release; the band heads into Austin this evening at Cheer Up Charlies. You’ll get a steady dose of female-fronted dream-pop, akin to Wax Idols or Frankie Rose. They’ll be joined by several Austin acts, with our own Blushing joining the ranks of Lake of Fire and Angry Beige to round out the bill put together by the Nothing Song. The tune below is still my favorite Shana Falana tune off the last record…such a gem. See ya’ll tonight!

NO! The video is not weak, it’s the title track of the band’s brand new Weak EP, being released by yours truly in January of next year! This week New Noise were super kind, and dropped the video for the track. I wanted to circle back a few days later, make sure we got in front of you as well before you head off into the weekend. Don’t need to say much more than we’re really excited for 2018, and couldn’t think of a better way to kick it off than with Blushing‘s new EP. You can order it right HERE in 12″ vinyl format, if you dig; the band will have cassette versions specially for you too!

If you’ve been following us over at ATH Records, you’re surely aware of how excited we are for 2018! We’ve got some great releases, but the first will be a 12″ EP for Blushing; they’ve titled the EP Weak. Yesterday DKFM premiered the title track on their shogegaze radio show, and I wanted to make sure you had an ample chance to hear it too, just in case you missed it accidentally. For those just being introduced to the band, you’re in for a treat, as they perfectly mesh the qualities of dream pop and shoegaze’s angular guitars; you’re really going to love it. We’ll be releasing it on January 26th, but you can grab it HEREfrom us right now.

She Sir Album Release Show is Tonight

She Sir, one of our longtime favorites, who we always give our undying support, released their excellent new LP, Rival Island, last week…and they return to the stage in Austin this week at the Mohawk. They’re one of the premiere dreampop/indiepop acts in Austin, if that’s your thing…not to mention this new record taking it to a whole other level. Plus, if you hadn’t heard, we’re putting out an EP by the incredible Blushing, who will be opening the show…so get there early and sample what’s coming your way! Plus, Wildfires will keep it real right in the middle of the night.

Doors are at 9 and its All Ages, so you’re out of excuses.
