Campfires Share Jackals Maw

Fire Talk is on a roll this year, and shit, this week really (that Deeper tune!). But, while they’ve kept me alive with great rock n’ roll, I’ve really been gravitating towards the new LP from Campfires, and in particular, this single below. Songwriter Jeff Walls claims a bit of a Velvets feel here, but a more modern turn would be to look at this track through the lens of a Sonny Smith or Woods; it has this rootsy feel to it, while still having this blossoming vibrancy that you can’t turn your ear away from. To me, its like the comfort food of pop music; you feel good listening to it; you feel good knowing its out in the world. Fare Trax will be out on August 30th via Fire Talk.

Lovely New Song From Campfires

It’s been quite some time since I last posted on Jeff Walls and his Portland based project known as Campfires. Focusing mostly on recording and spotty touring over the last few years, Walls is returning this year with a new album called Fare Trax coming out on August 30th via Fire Talk. As a preview of the new material, we are happy to share the very first single entitled “I’ll Go Home”. Leaving behind some of the grit pop from earlier releases, this new material features a more washed out sound with some small hints of twangy, country guitars. It seems like a perfect evolution for an ever evolving artist.

New Gritty Pop From Campfires

Here’s a short and sweet gritty pop number called “Fortune Teller” coming your way from Portland based indie pop band Campfires.  The band is basically a one man job by Jeff Walls who recently moved from Chicago for greener skies in the Northwest.  Jeff and his band moniker have a new album called Tomorrow Tomorrow coming out on February 19th via Fire Talk Records.  You should definitely check out a pre-order of the album if this one tickles your fancy.
