We’ve talked about The Happen-Ins many a time, not to mention our adoration for our boys Grape St. I mean, come on, we put out that band’s record.  But, not only do the bands get to grace the historic venue, I’m also excited for Badgerzz. What?! You haven’t heard of them? Well, up until awhile ago, I hadn’t either, though their main man Michael Booher has been a large part of the Austin scene for quite some time.  He was one of the members of now defunct Zykos, and he’s been batting around as a solo act for a bit.  Badgerzz is his new act, and I’m assured you’re all going to be really pleased with what he brings to the table.  We hope to bring you more from Michael as we get it. Awesome show for a Tuesday…not to mention the rad poster.

ATH Interviews: Black Joe Lewis

blackjoelewis_featureShortly after our time at ACL, we realized that we failed to interview any of our favorite local acts playing over the weekend.  To make up for our miscue, we caught up with up and coming Austin artist Black Joe Lewis via email.  Black Joe has been hard working hard and touring the country with his band The Honeybears after releasing his debut LP earlier this year.  Follow the jump to read full interview.

Li’l Cap’n Traivs @ Continental Club (8/7)

lilcapntravisLi’l Cap’n Travis has always been one of our favorite Austin bands and we always make a point to check them out when they play around town.  So if you’re looking for some cheap local jams on Friday night, head to Continental Club for a set by the Austin alt-country band.  Fellow locals Leatherbag and Aaron Blount and The Mockingales will also be playing before the headliners.  Show starts around 10pm.

Li’l Cap’n Travis @ Continental Club (4/3)

travissuitsThe Continental Club has a nice local lineup this Friday night with Li’l Cap’n Travis and Brothers and Sisters on the bill.  We give a lot of coverage to both these bands and feel like they maybe haven’t gotten their due praise just yet.  Tickets will be sold only at the door for $8 with music starting at 10pm.
