SXSW Interview: Didi

We’re actually going to start SXSW’ing this week, but we’ve still got a few interviews to roll out for you before we get going. Below we’ve got some answers from Ohio’s Didi who are likely to be bringing brand new tunes into town. They’ve got the following sets confirmed: BD Rileys (3/15), Escapes Day Party (3/15) and Peelander Fest (3/16). You can also catch a video of the band’s track “Stampede” after the jump. Plus, if you haven’t heard about them, check out their recently reissued self-titled LP on Damnably.

Dreamy Indiepop from Say Sue Me

The great thing about the indiepop realm is that there are several diehard fans out there solely focused on unearthing gems, which is how I came to hear this new Say Sue Me track I’m sharing with you. The group hails from South Korea, but don’t let that fool you, as they seem to have the same knack for crafting infectious hooks as everyone’s indie darlings, Alvvays. I kind of just want to jam to this song all day long, so excuse me why I go do that. If you’re digging it, look for it to come via a new 7″ for Damnably Records.

Spirited Number from Womps

wompsWe love to keep an eye on the Glasgow scene, mostly because we’ve got a few friends over there, not to mention that’s where one of our favorite bands was birthed.  So, when I got this single from Womps, I was really impressed.  It has that discordant feeling that puts it in the same vein of current stars like Wavves and what not, but production duties on their work has been handled by Steve Albini, so you know someone out there is going to be paying attention.  Honestly, it’s the best 90s college rock nod I’ve heard in some time. This tune will appear on a 7″ on September 18th while the band wrap up their debut album.
