Drudging my way through an insane week leaves me in need of some upbeat music I can dance and sing along to. If you are in the need of the same, look no further than this delightful new track “Into Me” from NYC via Minneapolis based band Strange Names. Seriously, this thing is a fun piece of dance inducing beats with elements of electronica, disco and of course pop. I dare you need to stand up and move to the beat. Double dare.
Strange Names will release a new album of tunes sometime in 2018.
It’s been quite sometime since we’ve heard from local boys The Black & White Years. Today we heard through the wire that the band have recently finished a new album for a planned release early next year. Prior to that date, the band are sending out this new track, “Little One”, to drum up some publicity for the new album. When I hear the track, I think, “yeah that’s the Black & White Years”. What does that mean exactly? To me, the band has made a name for themselves as a dance-pop, almost experimental electronica sounding band, and that’s what I hear on this tune. Count me in.
Get your hands on new album Strange Figurines on January 10th via Modern Outsider.

We already posted a couple new tracks from the upcoming Body Parts LP, Fire Dream, due out October 29th on Father Daughter Records. Today the band are sharing with us yet another new track in the form of this new jam “People”. Yet again we are treated to some delightful electronic based pop music that’s sure to brighten your Tuesday. Looking very much forward to this album.
Over the last year, I’ve developed a major fan affair with Pat Grossi and his experimental pop group known as Active Child. His album You Are All I See was, and still is, one of the most underappreciated gems from 2011 that somehow gets better and better with every listen. Well today I’ve got some great new for fans of the group with this brand new track “Evening Cermony”. It’s a great track similar to what I’ve grown to love about the act with it’s synth pop, beautifully placed harp pieces, and the glorious voice of Grossi mixed in superbly as usual. Enjoy.
Stay tuned as we get more news about the upcoming new album. This track actually appears on the soundtrack for the upcoming film The Host.
It’s rare that I get into the dance/electronic side of things on ATH, so you know when I do, it has to be a jam. Kisses are band that we’ve posted about in the past due to their catchy dance tracks, and this new grooving beat called “Huddle” is no different. You’ll definitely here an 80s dance floor influence mixed in with some high pitched vocals that combine to get your ass moving even if you’re sitting at work.
Sophomore album Kids in L.A. hits stores on May 14th via Cascine Records.
It’s rare that a band gets as much coverage on this site as has our favorite Pennsylvania synth heavy groove pop band Night Panther. A quick search on the site and you’re sure to pull up a slew of hits featuring the band’s noteworthy tunes. Since we’ve said just about all we can at this point, I’ll let the music do the talking this time with this sweet groove “Lioness”. The band still hasn’t given us an official release date for their upcoming debut LP, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Also, Night Panther will be joining the masses during SXSW so you should be sure to check them out if you’re in town.

It’s time once again friends and loved ones to bring ourselves together for yet another ATH Council Meeting at the North Door. This Friday evening, we will once again grace your presence in the back bar of the ND with awesome tunes ranging every decade of our existence on earth. As always, we’ll have plenty of hits to nod your head to and move your ass to as well. Let’s not forget that North Door also has some of the best drink specials on the east side, our favorite being the “Son of a Gun” a.k.a. “Hell on Wheels”. Come join us, drink, and be merry! We’ll start spinning our tunes a little later this go around, somewhere near the 9pm mark. Come say hello!
