Did We Tell You About Summer Salt

summerWe’re trying to grow our ATH Records label appropriately, and at the moment being selective so as not to spread ourselves out too thin. But, the latest act we’re working with is Summer Salt, who you should hopefully recognize from their Driving to Hawaii EP, which you can stream below. We’ll be working on the band’s next release coming in 2016, but I also wanted to point you in the direction of their Daytrotter Session, which just went up yesterday over HERE. We’ll keep you in the know on the happenings, but if you’re in Austin, you’re super lucky, as the band will be playing Every Friday in November over at the Blackheart for the local residency…so head that way each and every Friday this month.

Whalers On Daytrotter

I’ll apologize now for neglecting the Daytrotter website that has been so solid for what seems like an eternity at this point.  With that out of the way, I was pleasantly surprised to see our local ATH A2W band Whalers as the featured band of the day.  The guys grab a lengthly 5 song live in-studio set highlighting their short career in the music business.  Below you can find a live version of the song “Magic Tricks” which was the first tune that started turning heads around here.  Head on over now to grab yourself some free music by this up and coming local band.

Zlam Dunk On Daytrotter

When local Austin bands appear on national website Daytrotter, we try to talk about them.  Well our local friends Zlam Dunk just had their session posted today and we wanted to share the info with you kids.  The guys recorded 4 songs for the live in-studio, including 3 songs from their recent album Noble Ancestry and one from an as of yet released album.  Below you can find that unreleased song “Patrick” for you downloading pleasure.  Check out the full session now.

Balmorhea on Daytrotter

Everyone needs to have Daytrotter on their favorites, as their attention to detail and their selection of some of the best bands around is always a constant on the site.  Today, the site offered up new tunes from local Austin favorites, Balmorhea.  The majority of the set comes from the latest Candor/Clamor single release by the band, but they also tossed up an unreleased song that I’ve been enjoying all morning long.  If you’re a fan of the band, and you should be, then you’ll love hearing new music from the group as we all await their next great release.

Iron and Wine on Daytrotter

Can we claim Sam of Iron and Wine as an Austinite yet?  I mean, he’s still living on the outskirts of town, right? Well, we know you’re excited as can be for his newest release Kiss Each Other Clean, which hits the streets on January 25th.  While we’ve had some of the singles hit the Internet, you can now listen to three of the new songs done for today’s Daytrotter session.  You’ll probably be just as excited, if not more so, for this record once you give it all a listen.  And hey, sign up with the site, and it’s all free, so it can’t hurt to get yourself a nice taste of new Iron and Wine.

Ty Segall on Daytrotter

We’re in love with Ty Segall, in case you didn’t know.  We’ve caught him several times this year on tour, and included his latest, Melted, in our Top Albums of 2010. Over the brief little break from the music world, we missed Ty’s recordings for the wonderful Daytrotter site. The session includes a slew of unreleased tracks, so fans of Ty will definitely be into this.  If you’re not already a fan, it will give you a chance to see Ty at his most raw, as he definitely lets loose several times throughout the session.  Personally, my favorite is the smoother “Who Are You,” which comes as the last song of the recording.  You can check out the rest of Ty’s set at Daytrotter.

Drag the River on Daytrotter!

I first got into Drag the River through a bunch of friends who were all about ALL.   You really can’t go wrong with a bunch of pop-punk heroes going country singing about whiskey, Jesus and such.  Luckily, the band, rumored to not be working anymore, just went up on Daytrotter.  It’s got all tracks from an up-and-coming session called 2010 Demons, which are supposedly demos of work that has yet to be finished.  Regardless, one listen to this track below and you’ll see why I love these guys.

Sonny & The Sunsets On Daytrotter

Been awhile since we’ve seen an artist on the Daytrotter website playing as much unreleased material as Sonny & The Sunsets did during their session.  In total, the band plays 6 songs with a whopping 4 of these being unreleased material.  The session is definitely worth your time and the free download.  Preview below with the relaxing live version of new song “I Wanna Do it Again”.

Phantogram On Daytrotter

Daytrotter just keeps on trucking this week with another awesome live set by New York band Phantogram.  The duo give us 3 tracks from their recent LP Eyelid Movies and throw in this unreleased gem “Make a Fist”.  It’s got a nice little beat behind it.  Check out the full set now.

Horse Feathers On Daytrotter

One of my personal favorite bands Horse Feathers made an appearance on the famed Daytrotter website yesterday.  This session is just down right sick.  Not only do we have 8 songs for download, but we’ve also got a tasty unreleased song called “Orphan Girl”.  You won’t want to miss out on this action.
