Smooth Synthy Pop from Slow Magic

Slow MagicAdmittedly, the IT Dept. hasn’t been on the scene lately, but it is about time we in-sourced this noise and get some delicious bleeps into your earholes.

Slow Magic is building a hefty rep around these parts with beauty’s like this slow builder that is filled with texture and replicated organics posted a few months back. The band is back again with another streamable slice of synth goodness with emphasis on the synth this time. The track, “Waited 4 U”, has one lyric, take a guess. It is in the mid-song crescendo that will hopefully include a key-tar solo in the live setting. *cough* holy mountain 9/17 *cough*

How To Run Away is out Sept. 9th on Downtown Records. I recommend you get it.

Chilled Vibe from Slow Magic

slowBefore you get full into your Wednesday routine, take a little breather, relax. What’s that? You need some accompanying music? Well, this new Slow Magic tune should do the trick for you.  It’s a slow moving electronic piece; it’s sort of a soul cleanser, if you will.  It opens up heavier on the “beats” side of things, then moves into this carefully trickling bit of piano.  As the piano plods along, there’s some vocal samples of “hold still” that whisper through  the front of the mix…then it blasts off emphatically.  This single will appear on the new album, How to Run Away, which is out September 9th on Downtown Records.

New Music From Cat’s Eyes

Despite their absolutely ridiculous band name, I’ve been enjoying this new relaxing tune from Cat’s Eyes called “Not a Friend”.  The relatively new duo formed by Rachel Zeffira and Faris Badwin of The Horrors are dropping their debut self-titled LP on April 11th in the UK on Polydor Records and stateside on May 3rd via Downtown Records. You can also head over to the P4K to watch a live video of the band’s first ever breathtaking performance inside the Vatican, yes THAT Vatican.  No lie.
