Stream Estraik Back from Los Esplifs

Sometimes I feel like a one man party train for Los Esplifs, but I just can’t get enough of their album Estraik Back. It’s full of these Latin rhythms blended with a modern flare and sprinkles of psychedelia; it’s more or less the perfect record for those willing to step outside the ordinary world of indie rock. Every time I put on a track like “Otro Pais” or “Perro Rabioso,” there’s just this overwhelming sense of freedom; my body and mind just sort of let go and I escape into the music this Tucson outfit has crafted. Here’s to hoping folks take a chance on the full listen; your spirit certainly won’t regret letting go!

Los Esplifs Share Perro Rabioso

I listen to a whole lot of music, obviously, but I do tend to get stuck on certain albums that dominate my listening. Two records have been stuck in my rotation since early February…the new Reds Pinks and Purples (why don’t you own that already) and Estraik Back, the debut from Los Esplifs. Sure, its possibly not down hipster central, stylistically speaking, but who really gives a fuck out there. It just feels like a party to me, like there’s this natural celebratory nature to the craft; I’m constantly swaying my hips and shuffling my feet, even sitting here in my desk. There just aren’t a lot of bands that give me the feels like this lot…just wanna go to that restaurant and celebrate with them. Look for their debut on 4/20!

Los Esplifs Share Galaxia

I have a feeling not enough of you are listening to Los Esplifs, and I wish I could change that, so I’m sharing the band’s latest single here. The band are working under the moniker of cumbia meets psychedelia, so admittedly, that’s sort of right up my alley…just ask all the folks at my wedding! I love the rhythmic element of this tune, sounding like a steady horse-gallop, one of the signature sounds of the genre. Vocals are precise, but they never feel like they’re in the way of the primal nature of this tune, letting your body move in step with each little note as it glides through your speakers; it’s called dancing and you’ll get used to it. Honestly, the music in the indie sphere’s gotten a bit stale, so mix it up this bunch; their debut LP, Estraik Back, drops on 4.20.

Los Esplifs Share Otro Pais

Everyone’s lamenting the break-up of Daft Punk, but if you really want to hit the dance floor with your partner, then you better have the DJ turn up this great new track from Los Esplifs. This tune employs tons of the cumbia flare, all the way down to the way backing gang vocals; you can feel the focus on the rolling rhythm, intent upon a quick little turns of your feet while twirling your partner. For me, I love that this sort of stuff is getting a little indie credibility, as there’s this purity in the craft of such music; it’s not quite as formulaic as your traditional indie flare, thus it really revolves around the core of the players and orchestrators. Really excited to hear Estraik Back, the band’s new LP on April 20th.
