Bonobo Is Playing Fun Fun Fun Fest

BonoboFun Fun Fun Fest is a week away.

Among the artists coming that I have been a fan of for a long time, one that I have always had a conflict to prevent me seeing live set is Bonobo. Dial ‘M’ For Monkey is a mandatory road trip album. Can’t recall what was going on that I couldn’t make the show earlier this year at Emo’s, but I missed it. While Simon Green is touring with a band, he is also one helluva DJ. If you aren’t familiar with The Boiler Room, get familiar. It is a great way to soundtrack your late night activities.

I give you the Bonobo track he opens this Boiler Room set with called “Cirrus” to download and you can stream the set in the widget dealie below that. Cool thing is that you can download the Boiler Room set, as well. See the “Download” just below the player thingie? Click that doo-hickey and put your head down.

Funx3 Fest Preview: Deltron 3030

deltron“It’s the year thirty… thirty.  And here at the Corporate Institutional Bank of Time, we find ourselves reflecting.  Finding out that in fact we came back.  We were always coming back.”

I couldn’t even begin to guess how many times I’ve heard that opening line from Deltron 3030’s self-titled debut from 2000.  Okay, if I HAD to guess, I’d say it’s somewhere in the hundreds.  Happy now?  More after the jump.

Beach Fossils Is Playing FFF8

We bring you another reason to get hype about Fun Fun Fun Fest 8. It is happening November 8th-10th at Auditorium Shores, ya know.

Beach Fossils released Clash The Truth early this year. We saw them at Red7 a few months later and while the show was great, there were a couple of technical difficulties that hampered it from being perfect. I doubt the bolted down Homies running gear at FFF will miss a beat. I would also expect a foray into the crowd by Dustin.

Check out the video for this jam that was just released over at MTV Hive directed by the Mac Demarco bass player, Pierce McGarry.

Cut Copy Is Playing FFF8

Get ready people, Fun Fun Fun Fest is upon us. Festival season is a fickle beauty. It enchants you with dance and libations and wrecks your perception of reality and your liver.

The wife and I will celebrate fifteen years of marriage on the day before FFF8. Cut Copy is her favoritest. Free Your Mind like Neo jumping off a building and dance a little. Here is perfect synths pop dance jam called “We Are Explorers” to get you in the mood for Friday on the Orange Stage.

Catching Up With RJD2

You know, we leave a lot to be desired when it comes to covering indie hip-hop. This post proves we acknowledge you might want to nod yo head.

RJD2 has put out some pretty sweet records to kill time to and the latest album will be out soon, October 8th if you must know. The album is called More Is Than Isn’t and you can stream all of it over at Potholes In My Blog. This track features a collaboration with Phonte Coleman. It is a slick jam.

RJD2 will be at FFF8.

The Nites Are Free

As has become tradition, those of you that just don’t get enough jams during the day at Fun Fun Fun Fest are treated to a bevy of artists that will play sets at venues around Red River. The final schedule is TBD, but at least you can start planning your must-haves and can-skips knowing you have a second shot at chilling with the artists in the poster in the corner of this post.

THE NITES ARE FREE!!!

FFF’s web minions notified us an interactive lineup by day and stage has been unleashed, so if you want pick a single day to party ultra hard instead of surviving three days of festing, you can purchase a single day ticket starting tomorrow for $79. There are also going to be some discounted student wristbands. I am signing up for a karate lesson to qualify.

Aqua Olympics @ Fiesta Gardens (8/3)

A rather fun and popular part of pre-Fun Fun Fun hype is the Aqua Olympics. You get to do stupid things off of other things into the lake. Backflips on a bike? Sure. 1080s with a scuba mask? Why not. Plus, you get to learn about the Comedy and Ride+Skate stuff at the fest.

Anyway, just passing along a little poster action received via Bothan spies. Reminder FFF8 passes on sale and the new PIP dubbed the Ultimate Smooth Pass will be launched about the same time as Aqua Oly.

FFF8 Lineup Leaked – 3Day Passes @ 10am

Location Auditorium Shores
Doors 11am (Show up Early)
Tickets On Sale @ 10am

The internet had the scoop overnight on the lineup for this year’s FunFunFun Festival, or as I call it, three-days-of-chasing-bands-with-a-camera-so-too-busy-to-catch-a-buzz Fest.

I am sure we will have previews galore, but the lineup this year has many alums of previous iterations with plenty of new faces to go along with the mayhem on three-by-two stages. The short list of jams – Slayer, Thee Oh Sees, Cut Copy, Kurt Vile, Television, The Walkmen, Johnny Marr, Delorean, Chromatics, Snoop, The Men, Descendents, Bonobo, Small Black, King Kahn, and oh soooo many more. If you can’t find a band you like in this line up, you suck at music listening and festivals.

Full list of leaked bands after the break…

Update: Poster is out, leaks are fun.

Music.

Comedy.

Ride.

Skate.
