Readers of our website know that the entire staff here is fully behind the up and coming sounds of Chicago based rock group Twin Peaks. Now since I just interviewed these guys back during Fun Fest, I sent them our SXSW questions this time around to get their thoughts on the festival and Austin. Follow the jump to see what the dudes had to say.
As we move closer to Fun Fest, I find myself getting more and more pumped for the weekend. The lineup is again superb and we’ll of course be hanging with all you cool customers in the beautiful Austin weather. We’re moving forward with our coverage today with an interview from Sub Pop act Pissed Jeans.
It’s really hard to believe, but Fun Fest is just a short two weeks away now and it’s time to start doing some prep work. As usual, we’ll be offering up some interviews, band previews, tips, photos, and anything else we stir up on our crazy minds. Today we shall begin our coverage with a quick interview spotlighting Memphis punk band Ex-Cult. We’ve been fans of this band for awhile so naturally we’re excited for this one. Follow the jump for interview.
Spider Bags put out an incredibly underrated album entitled Frozen Letter this August on Merge. Some great tracks are hidden in there, including this one called “Summer of ’79”. Many of you may have heard the tune before, but today I’m excited to be premiering a video for the rockin’ song. It’s a live version of the track so you can see and hear the band in all it’s punk rock stylin’ glory. Follow the jump for video.
It’s almost here people. That’s right, Fun Fest is just a mere 2 days away, and ATH is of course pumped for the weekend. As usual, we hit up a few bands prior to the fest to ask them a few questions about life. First up on the list is veteran act Quasi. Follow the jump for more.
Fun Fest is now just a few short days away and the ATH crew couldn’t be more excited for the big event. With just those few days left, we plan on highlighting a ton more bands we’re excited about seeing this weekend. Today I give you legendary rock group The Walkmen. Follow the jump for more.
We’ve all been waiting for today, and we’ve all been super hyped on the 2011 Fun Fun Fun Fest. Honestly, the leaks and the info today on turntable.fm all seemed a little heavy on the hip-hop/electro side of things for me. But, now that the line-up is on its way, there are some great gems. I mean, my man crush Ted Leo will be there. I’m stoked on seeing Cloud Nothings and Radio Dept, so much so, that I’d go alone for all that. But, as Transmission always does a great job putting this together, everyone’s going to find their own genre/niche of bands to get excited for. So, do yourself a favor, head over to the SITE, and see who your favorites will be. Then leave us a comment and let us know…maybe you can give us a heads up on what’s hip. Also, don’t forget tickets go on sale for the 3rd round today. Label me officially stoked!
Magic Kids have had a phenomenal year thus far. They’ve droped their album Memphis, and they’ve been touring like crazy, winning acclaim left and right. We caught up with the band members via email just before they make their way to Austin for Fun Fun Fun this weekend. Follow the jump for full interview with Will, Bennett, Ben, Michael, and Alex of Magic Kids. Read more
So as we said on Tuesday, we had a few photographers running around over the weekend and now we want to bring you some photos from ATH photo man Eric Uhlir. Eric has been lending us his photos for close to a year now and we have always been pleased with his outstanding results. The quality of his framing and attention to detail really is top notch. Follow the jump for all of Eric’s pictures.
We hope all of you stayed dry on Sunday at the Fun Fun Fun Festival and we also hope you soaked in the great weather of Saturday. All in all we had a great time over the weekend and saw tons of great bands. Just as we did with ACL, we’d like to give you a brief recap with our top 10 favorite bands from the weekend festivities. We’re putting these in no real order and just listing them with some brief reasons why we liked them so much. Follow the jump for our top 10 Fun Fest bands.
