But on a more important note, word has dropped that the tenth anniversary edition of Fun Fun Fun Fest will have a presale and it will be on March 5th at 10am. The presale will feature three day passes for the fest next November 6-8 at Auditorium Shores (hopefully back to the old layout by then). And in case you are curious, ALL early bird passes will be mailed out. That means Linegate 2014 will not have a sequel for the lucky early birders.
This is it! The day you’ve all been waiting for! The end of our FFF! Brian shot great photos, and we all had a blast. Thanks, of course, to Giant Noise and Transmission for the privilege of allowing us to cover your festival. Hope everyone had a great time.
Saturday was a good day for loud rock and great pop music, which is why this is one of my favorite festivals to attend. The scheduling of such genre crossings always makes it easy for folks to find a little of what they need. Still really jealous that Brian shook Ted Leo’s hand.
Friday was filled with a bit of hubbub, which was entirely fair. But, in the end, once we got in, the only thing that mattered was friends and music, so we’ll just focus on those things. Read on below for our varying thoughts. Read more
Soon. You will be hungry. Festing is hard work. You burn the calories with those 16oz curls. You will shimmy your way to slim if you don’t grab a snack or two. Thanks to the concept of mobile food vendors laser-focused on doing one thing really well, music festivals went from horrible concession stand gut bombs to delightfully crafted dishes, or at least a gourmet version of the gut-bomb.
So let’s review a few killer options to gnaw on at Fun Fun Fun Fest…
Fun Fest weekend is here kids and ATH is just about ready to kick this thing into high gear. Before we wrap up our pre-festival coverage, we’ve got one more interview coming your way from one of our favorite all time Austin bands Mineral. Founding father and vocalist Chris Simpson was nice enough to answer some of our tough questions. I tried my best not to be a fan boy… Follow the jump for one of my most anticipated interviews of the festival season.
Is Fun Fest really this weekend? Hard to believe some major fun times (x3) are ahead on Friday. You know the drill with ATH by now, we interview a lot of bands leading up to the festival to hopefully give you some nice reading material prior to the weekend. Today we’re speaking with one of our top bands of the weekend, Chicago natives Twin peaks. Follow the jump to see what these guys had to say.
Going to a festival is great. Good bands, good vibes (usually), but it’s also about having yourself a grand old time. So, with that spirit, and our previous experience at Fun Fun Fun Fest, we decided to create a little FFF Bingo for you to play with your friends. All you have to do is print this out, then play with us via twitter, and you can win a sweet prize or two. Even if you don’t wanna play, have yourself a fun/safe time out there this weekend folks.

We’ve long supported the work of the Pains of Being Pure at Heart. They captured our attention early on, changed some things going forward, and still won us over with every little release. They’re one of the acts at Fun Fun Fun Fest we’re really looking forward to seeing, so we caught up with Kip via the Interwebs in order to toss together a quick interview discussing the festival and the expanded release of their latest album, Days of Abandon. Fun Fun Fun Fest snuck up on me quite a bit this year and it’s hard to believe that we are just one short week away from Austin’s best festival. Good times will be had by all I’m sure and of course ATH is here to ensure that you will be aptly prepared for the weekend of fun. Today we’re continuing our coverage of the fest with a look at 13 bands you definitely shouldn’t miss out on. Why 13? Because it’s Halloween and we’re cool. Follow the jump for the list in no particular order.
