This new jam entitled “Punisher”, from former Austin based lady rock group Gal Pals, is an easy one to get into. At its core the song is a punk rocker with some pop elements thrown in to keep things catchy. We will forgive you for moving to L.A. and confess that we still think you are great. Stay out of the sun.
Pick up the Gal Pals debut album, Velvet Rut, on February 24th via Papercup Music.
The folks over at Mohawk are dedicating themselves to keeping things fun and local on Monday nights, bringing you another great gig in their Showoff Series. First, let me just tell you that the show is FREE, so you get to enjoy some great bands and spend all your money on booze and MERCH! But, this Monday’s show has some incredible local acts, and one we’ll all need to say goodbye to. Ringo Deathstarr is the headliner on the night, and the band needs no introduction; they’re one of the many rad acts across town. But, you need to come say goodbye to Gal Pals, who unfortunately are relocating due to career opportunities. We love the duo, and we wish them all the best on their new ventures. Also, Hola Beach will kick off the night, rounding out a line-up that’s worth your time. See you there.

With the recent release of Our House on the Hill, the Mohawk was filled to the brim to catch the Babies in action. A line-up fueled by Austin acts only added to my personal anticipation, so we happily made our way out on the town.

We’re drawing to the very end of what has been a great season of rock n’ roll, and what better way to wrap things up with a visit from The Babies. The part Vivian Girls, part Woods, super group blasts into town fresh off the release of their very excellent Our House on the Hill. Their music alone would be reason to go to this show, but we’ve also got the benefit of some incredible openers, namely Deep Time and Gal Pals.
Interested parties can enter our contest for a ticket with accompanying +1. Simply leave a comment about anything you want, and we’ll pick a winner the morning of the show. Good luck!

Quick Show Pics post for your Monday…
Crocodiles came to town and used it as a way to pull in a ton of local acts and show them off. Cheap Curls is the current project of former Dum-Dum Girl Katie Brouillette-Serbian. We also had Gal Pals and La Migra.

You’ve probably seen this headline on our site many, many times before, but we’re always more than happy to spend our night watching two of our favorite bands, Ty Segall and Thee Oh Sees. A couple of great local opening acts added an extra touch of class to the night.

This is by and large the show of the week. Sure, Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall have both made their way through town several times in the last few months, but I don’t think a single person that’s caught these two acts will tell you they wouldn’t willingly see the band over and over again. Plus, the new record from Thee Oh Sees, Putrifiers II, is pretty killer, so hopefully we’ll get some new jams live in their set, not to mention Ty guests on it, so he’ll probably guest on stage. And if you need another reason, check out locals Gal Pals and Fleshlights rocking things out in true Austin fashion. Looks like I just gave you plans for Saturday night.
