Good Morning Announce Basketball Breakups

I’m pretty anxiously awaiting the US arrival of Good Morning; I’ve been jamming to the band for several years, and this will the first time to step foot on our soil (as a band anyways). It looks like they’ll be doing so with a new record, their second this year, in tow, as today they announce Basketball Breakups with a brand new single. This song and its accompanying video are equally charming. The guitars have this tornado of light jangle working around the casual vocal delivery; the video is entirely filmed inside an IKEA, though I’m a bit bummed they didn’t seem to sample the meatballs. Some bands get prolific and then they get boring, but Good Morning seems to be taking it all in stride, and our ears are better for it. Their US tour runs from October thru November.

C Duncan Brings You Psych Folk

11071582_792938767442224_2465989073659043795_nPsych and Folk? What isn’t there to love in those two genres, not to mention when they’re juxtaposed nicely together. Well, C-Duncan from Glasgow is a gentleman who has these two genres nicely laid out for you in this song below called, “Garden.” The swirling blend of acoustic guitar and sweetly soft vocals give you the mix without overwhelming you with either style. Instead the song is clear and lush, both a little trippy and a little down to earth. Check it out.

ATX Spotlight: Introducing Lunar Gold

moJason Morris has spent the last several years plying his trade in The Clouds are Ghosts, but he felt the calling to complete something entirely on his own, taking a softer and more broad approach to his songwriting.  There’s layers upon layers added to his work as Lunar Gold, crafting a denser sound that broods and flows forth…similar to artists like Other Lives or Efterklang.  For now, just revel in a new project on the scene; enjoy his first single with this project, and catch him live on April 4th at Mohawk.
