Premiere: Near Beer Drop Dead Drummers

Before you head out on your Thursday night adventures, I’d suggest taking a listen to this new tune “Dead Drummers” by Joey Siara’s new project Near Beer. For me, it’s always refreshing to hear a band who can ruthlessly slam through a true rock n roll song with fast timings, raucous energy, and timely guitar licks. It’s sort of like if Japandroids melded with the more Americana vibe of say The Hold Steady. Have a listen, and if we don’t see you tomorrow, stay strong out there over the long weekend.

Near Beer’s self-titled debut album will drop on July 15th via Double Helix Records.

New Music From Henry Clay People

This new song “California Wildfire” from Cali based band The Henry Clay People has sparked my rock n roll interest today.  The band apparently is using this tune to promote a new EP entitled This is a Desert which is due out on TBD Records sometime this May.  Enjoy the tune and keep up the rock. Show Review: Silversun Pickups @ Stubbs (7/19)

As I prepared for my evening at Stubbs, I pored through several different albums.  A few tracks from Silversun Pickups, all the Against Me, and the solid new album from Henry Clay People. I didn’t know what to expect necessarily, caught in nostalgia for my punk days, but not so amped for the main course. Still, I love a good live show, so I just had to be there.  Follow the jump for more.

Silversun Pickups @ Stubbs (7/19)

Date Monday, July 19th
Location Stubbs
Doors 700p
Tickets SOLD OUT

Well, I’ll be honest, Silversun Pickups is not necessarily my cup of tea; I mean, there are a few catchy songs, but overall, it just doesn’t do it for me.  I will tell you that in going to this show, I’m really excited for the two opening bands.  Against Me is bringing their punk goes electric sounds to the stage as the middle act, and killer nice guys in Henry Clay People will bring their own hot tracks to the stage as the opening band.  Luckily, you can catch HCP at Waterloo Records on the day of the show at 5 PM for free, and we suggest you make it out there, as they’re a band you need to check out.

ATH Interviews: Henry Clay People

As we lead up to our little ACL Festival in October, we here at ATH want to start focusing in on some of the lesser known acts coming into town.  Our first look brings us Glendale, CA based indie group The Henry Clay People.  Lucky for you and the ATH crew, this band will be making a stop in town next week with Against Me! before their ACL Festival slotted date.  To preview that show and their ACL appearance, we spoke with band member Joey about their current tour and their brand new LP Somewhere on the Golden Coast.  Follow the jump to read full interview.

New Music From Henry Clay People

Some days you just need a little kick in the face… and that’s just what I’m getting with a new rockin’ tune from Cali band The Henry Clay People.  This new song “Your Famous Friends” reminds me a lot of The Hold Steady with someone who actually knows how to sing.  You can find this new track on the band’s upcoming LP Somewhere On the Golden Coast which hits stores via TBD Records on June 8th.
