Noisy Little Number from Arc Flash

Remember that feeling of exuberance of bouncing around at a packed little venue? Sweat drips down your brown as the band’s frenetic energy wraps itself around the entire room? Well, that’s the feels being pushed by Arc Flash on their latest single, and I’m absolutely in love. It makes me want to run around my house chasing my dog or my wife, mimicking the bands echo-y yelps as I sing along to this tune. The band will release their newest effort, Carbon Copy, on March 31st via High Dive Records to hordes of anticipating show goers ready to dance about their own dwellings.

Retro Pop From The Conquerors

unnamed (2)As you can possibly tell from my lack of posts recently, I haven’t been finding much new music I’m into recently as I delve deeper into back catalogs. Sometimes though a band like Kansas City based The Conquerors comes along and offers me just enough of a throwback sound to draw me in and believe in the new music scene again. It’s as if a garage, psych band from the modern era (which is played out as hell if you ask me) blended with a 60s band like Paul Revere & The Raiders. Thanks for restoring my faith in creativity.

New album Wyld Time is due out August 26th via High Dive Records.

Let’s Rock With Psychic Heat

unnamedAs we power through the middle of another boring week, let’s introduce some rock into all of our lives with this new single from Lawrence based Psychic Heat. Their new single is called “In Two” and is intended to be played at a volume level of 11. It drives you, it hits you, and it begs you to let go and enjoy. Nice effort gentlemen.

Debut albumSunshower will hit stores on May 27th via High Dive Records.

Shy Boys to Release New 7″

shyboysI think a lot of people drastically overlooked the wonderful S/T effort from Shy Boys, but lets hope that this new 7″ they’re planning can attract more attention.  Now, if you’re looking for some guitar pop that’s heavy on distortion and power chords, then this isn’t the sort for you.  This is of the other ilk, relaxed in its entirety, with just a hint of movement coming via the riding of the cymbal. Like most of the work from the band, you just get to sit back and let the harmonies wash over you, drifting in and out of your consciousness.  You can grab the new 7″, titled 45, on August 26th from High Dive Records.

More New Music From Shy Boys

ShyboysArtwork_medium_imageBack in November I shared some new tuneage with you from Kansas City band Shy Boys.  Today sees the band inching ever closer to their release date and they are celebrating with us by dropping this new single “Bully Fight” on our ears.  Yet again, the band sound as though they must be from a different part of the world and not the Mid Western U.S.  To me they sound like they could be transplanted directly from some remote corner of the UK playing beautiful twee pop such as this.

Pick up the new self-titled album on January 21st via High Dive Records.

New Tune From Shy Boys

ShyboysArtwork_medium_imageHere’s a great new track I’ve been enjoying called “Keeps My On My Toes” coming your way from Kansas City rock band Shy Boys.  It’s so short at under two minutes that you may miss some of the greatness locked within if you aren’t paying attention.  I’m reminded of bands like Girls or other poppy/minimalistic groups that have been popular as of late when I hear the song.  Though it’s short, I find myself continually hitting the play button as it ends to really enjoy that last 30 seconds or so of good times.

Check out their new self-titled album due out January 21st on High Dive Records.

Binge Drink with Fourth of July

fourthofjulyI’ll admit that from time to time I have a tendency to revel in my juvenile tendencies, like punk rock and binge drinking.  When I first listened to this new single from Fourth of July both of those things came to mind immediately.  As the song kicked off, it had this relaxed vocal delivery, sort of like early Cursive albums.  Then the tune jumped off into a much more emphatic circle of fun type track, with gang vocals included; these are the sorts of things I definitely can get into.  If you, like me, enjoy what you’re hearing, then I suggest you pick up the group’s new record, Empty Moon, when it hits on April 9th from High Dive Records.

Fun Pop from The ACBs

1159Where the hell has this been?  I got this track off the upcoming album from The ACBs; I’ve had it on repeat ever since that point.  There’s little bits of trading off between male and female vocals, but the hooks are simply irresistible. If you turn this tune up really loud, you’re going to find yourself pressing play over and over again, and that’s not a bad thing.  You’re allowed to let yourself go from time to time, and it looks like this KC acts are poised to help you with just that. Their new album Little Leaves will be out on High Dive Records on March 5th, so get ready to enjoy yourself.
