New Music from The Great Nostalgic

Make no mistake about it; we’re huge fans of Austin band The Great Nostalgic.  Just recently they released their second album, Hope We Live Like We Promised, but they’re not stopping there.  Currently the band is holed up, hard at work on a brand new EP.  You can clearly tell the band’s sound has changed from their first effort, sounding tighter here than they have in the past, throwing out a melding of sounds in the middle of the track to bring you effortless brilliance.  It’s about time more people start taking notice of this great act.  Heed my warning folks.

SXSW Interviews: The Great Nostalgic

Make no mistake about it, The Great Nostalgic are easily one of our favorite up and coming local bands.  What with an appearance on our album’s of the year list in 2009, labeled as Austin album of the year, and major exposure here, it’s easy to see we dig their music.  In our quest to let the world know more about TGN, we recently sat down with leading man and primary songwriter Abram Shook to discuss the current state of his band.  You’ll be happy to hear that they are still going strong and getting ready to release their sophomore LP on the world.  Follow the jump for more.

New Music From Great Nostalgic

Were you aware that we here at ATH think of Great Nostalgic as one of the best new bands in Austin?  Hell, probably one of the best new bands in the nation?  Well you must not check out this site too often if you’re answering no to those questions.  This new and exclusive track “Wilderness” was just sent our way to promote a new sophomore album from the group Hope We Live Like We Promised.  No “official” release date is set just yet, but word it that a digital release is coming by the end of the month.  Later this fall a full on vinyl release with bonus materials will hit stores for you old school fans.  We already feel like this new tune shows a band maturing and really growing into a sound that compares to no one else.
