Brand New Tres Oui Tunes

Our friends in Tres Oui (remember when we put out their EP this year) are moving up the label chain, landing over on Shrimper for the release of their debut LP, Poised to Flourish. Today the band dropped the first single, which is one of the liver favorites for me. Tight drumming opens way for the angling guitar lines and Nate’s warm vocals to calmly ride the wave created by guitarist Stevsie Garcia. Bouncing grooves, infectious hooks and enough energy to keep your feet tapping throughout. Look for the LP on February 9th of next year.

Indiepop from The Keep Left Signs

Out of nowhere comes the announcement of the debut LP from The Keep Left Signs, a band comprised of members of The Mare and The Electric Pop Group…both who’ve made it onto our pages previously. It’s a sign that, yet again, Shelflife has its finger on the pulse of great indiepop vibes; the sound crafted here is pretty much the staple of every great indiepop hit this year. It features lightly jangling guitars, steady percussive bounce and vocals that always seem to wear a touch of longing. It’s remarkable in that it’s not overly remarkable; it’s crafted with melodies that endure, and if you get your hands on this super-limited release, then I’m sure you’ll agree with that sentiment. It’s titled Tomorrow, and it sees a release on December 8th.

Airy Indiepop from The Seashells

It’s been just about two years since we last heard new music from The Seashells, and thankfully, they’ve just unleashed this delicate indiepop gem to warm you today. An angular guitar line is the dominant instrument here, working atop programmed drums loops as the charm of the vocals wash over you. Very slight backing vocals seep in, but the mood is still dominated by those guitar lines and the soft presentation of the lyrics. Mondays are made for being unexpectedly charmed, and this track does just that; we’ll keep you updated on release news if it comes our way.

Stream Life from The Yellow Melodies

Spain’s The Yellow Melodies have been on my radar for quite some time, thanks to our friend Wally at The Beautiful Music. I think I first fell in love with their tribute album to the Television Personalities back in 2012, but they’re back with a brand new album titled Life. I’ve been jamming it quite a bit the last few weeks, and today you get your chance to get your hands on the LP. If you press play below you’ll find an album filled to the brim with charming melodies and indiepop delights; it’s a complete gem from start to finish. I could go on and on, but who needs my words…you just need the songs below!

Upbeat Jangle from Puzzles y Dragones

I’m completely fascinated with the world of Spanish indiepop; we admittedly owe a debt to Morrissey on this one, as his influence throughout the culture has led to some wonderful music. Today we’ve got this jam from Puzzles y Dragones…the first taste from the new long player coming in November. The guitars have that dreamy jangle to them, popular with our friends in Tres Oui; the song steadies due to the rhythm section, allowing the guitars to dance around in the distance. There’s a purity to this sort of pop, and I’m going to spend my day devouring it all; you should see the release of the LP next month via Discos de Kirlian.

New Indiepop from Skittle Alley

Skittle Alley has quietly been a huge part of my indiepop listening for some time, and thanks to IPSML for the heads-up on a brand new tune from the group. This song seems to take the airy guitar jangle and put it in cyclical motion, gently working atop what appears to be sampled percussive beats. But, while you think you have this track figured out, you’ll soon fine that the samples pick up pace, carrying a little energy into your speakers. Just don’t think that the charm established in the first minute will fade, as songwriting like this guarantees maximum charm until the end. Here’s holding out hope that this signals a great new release from the group in the near future.

Jangling Pop from The Treasures of Mexico

We all swooned when Bob Collins and Mark Matthews of The Dentists fame dropped Holding Pattern as The Treasures of Mexico for Shelflife back in 2015, so I’m happily welcoming their energetic new single. It’s got just enough jangle, just enough ringing of guitars to grab my ears, but the push from the rhythm section really makes the song kick. Amidst it all, the vocals are direct and warm, and while the “crawling back to me” line could easily be for a loved one, I’m holding out reservations for some sly animal adoration hit. Regardless, hearing this song just makes you feel like the world is headed in the right direction. I’ll keep you posted on more new as we near the release of the group’s second LP.

Jam This New Ski Lodge

It wasn’t too long ago when Ski Lodge was on the lips of every indiepop fan, and then it seemed Andrew Marr withdrew a little bit from the light. He’s released a few singles in that time, and this latest one is definitely a hit. The synths are sure to force people to throw out 80s references, but in the end, it’s Marr’s control over his vocal range this round that really makes this song work. He’s still capable of making an infectious tune that is sure to resonate with all sorts of listeners. Hopefully this is a sign of more new music to come!

Indiepop Fans Will Love Elva

You’re going to love Elva, and in fact, you probably already do without even realizing it. The band is comprised of members of the disbanded Allo Darlin, and Making Marks. Today news broke that the group will be releasing their debut 7″ for WIAIWYA, and we’ve got one of the songs below for you. It’s the perfect execution of understated pop, focusing on the natural melody created by the vocals, as well as the instrumentation behind. Tight drumming keeps a slight bit of pace to keep your toes-a-tapping. And of course, combining male and female vocals in unison is always going to hit home for fans of the genre…though I’d say for any fans of great music. This here is a gift that will make your day; it has already made my day better. Look for the limited edition release to drop right before Christmas; go grab it HERE before it runs out.

Flowers Release Last Single Ever on Fortuna Pop

No. Flowers are not breaking up. But, with their new 7″ single, Fortuna Pop will finally close its doors and move on to greener pastures. Sadly, we might not find a finer purveyor of pop, but we’ll always have the memories. The label, in my eyes, goes out with a bang, dropping two Flowers tracks that are memorable as ever. The first tune has a bubbly underbelly, while the latter track has a juxtaposed softness to it…all illustrating just how glorious the band is. Enjoy the tracks below, and fall in love, for the last time, with Fortuna Pop.
