Did You Buy the New Milk Dick Cassette?

dickmilkYesterday was new release day, and before the hellacious Tuesday of next week, things were slim-pickings.  So, if you’re a nerdy record store regular (I hope you are), you should have picked up this new cassette from Milk Dick.  They’re standout track on the release begins as sort of a folk song: gentle strum and vocals.  But, then they get sloppy fun, offering good times in a fashion that seems to blend modern rock tropes with Violent Femmes.  It’s a blast, so I hope you either grabbed it already, or pick it up from Infinity Cat.

Check Out Study Hall

hitsI love limited edition pressings from labels who I already trust, so I’m looking forward to this new Hits from the Streets Volume II, featuring the hottest up-and-comers from Nashville’s scene.  It’s being put out by Infinity Cat, and I’m totally in love with this track from Study Hall.  The band’s track on the album is a short little number, offering up this nerdy garage rock that’s begging for you wrap your ears around it.  I’m looking forward to discovering some other acts that I haven’t heard about yet, so you should keep your eye out for some surprises too.

Infinity Cat Start Cassette Series with Music Band

musicbandNot only is it a pretty special thing when a label can afford to start a new series, but Infinity Cat’s bi-monthly series is kicking off with this banging track from Music Band.  This song is one of those tracks that’s perfect for a start on a Monday; it’s a feel-good rocker with enough energy to push you through your morning routine.  For some reason I keep hearing a bit of the Replacements in what they’re doing, so if that’s your bag (and it should be!) then give tune a listen. You can subscribe to the new series HERE.

New Rocker from Diarrhea Planet

What can you get out of four guitarists? Just one listen to Diarrhea Planet and you’ll see that it’s a pretty heavy sound, if not one rooted in a bit of pop.  With the vocals, I want to throw them in as a more rocking Against Me, but there’s a lot less angst.  This Nashville outfit is busy prepping their debut Loose Jewels on Infinity Cat Records, which you can find in stores on September 20th (next week!).  It’s possibly not the deepest of tracks you’ll find out there, but it sure is a whole lot of fun jamming to this at the end of the day.  Crank the speakers and let go.
