Another band kicking things out of the Southeastern United States hotbed is Dead Gaze. The band closed out a solid 2013 with the release of Brain Holiday, before touring the country with good friend Dent May. We were able to catch up with Cole via Al Gore’s greatest invention; you can read his responses down below.
The great thing about SXSW is that you get a lot of bands coming in from abroad to test the waters of the American music scene, so we figured we ought to offer up one of those acts to you: September Girls. The band is working with Fortuna Pop for their album, Cursing the Sea, which is a solid release. We even changed up our set of questions a bit for the ladies to give you a different look at acts traveling to us from far away. Read more for answers from the group’s Jessie Ward; help us welcome them when they make it our way. Read more
It’s been an incredible year for Mirror Travel; their Mexico record for Modern Outsider was our Number One record in our Top 15 Austin Albums, and it looks like they’re continuing their meteoric rise. They’ve been nominated for several Austin Music Blogger Awards (find all nominees HERE), so we caught up with the band to give a little bit of insight into the life of the band. Click below to read all about it, and don’t forget to pick up your tickets HERE…the band will be playing as part of the night’s incredible line-up.
It’s like a never-ending stream of interviews rolling into the ATH offices, and we’re really excited to help you all get to know a little bit more about some of the acts heading into town. This one here is from Heavenly Beat, who will undoubtedly be playing some of the hits from last year’s Prominence, which came out on Captured Tracks. Here’s some quick answers from John Pena, a former Texan. Read more
We’re trying to put together as much of a push as we can to make this year’s Austin Music Bloggers Awards pretty special. We wanted to sit down with a few of the acts to get their insight on Austin, the Awards show, etc. We caught up with William of Shivery Shakes who shared a few thoughts on such things. His band is up for Best Single with “Sidewalk Talk;” HERE are the other nominees. As you may recall, we attended the festivitivities for the that song’s video premiere, check the pics. You can also check out that video of said single running on the Internet for the first time at the end of the interview.
A lot of bands have a lot of time under their belts, but some bands are just starting to really make a big name for themselves. Odonis Odonis is one such band who’ve been picking up steam over the last couple of years; they are making their way down to Austin to rock you like you’ve not been rocked before. It’s all going to continue to build up the eager anticipation to their forthcoming record Hard Boiled Soft Boiled, which comes out on April 15th. Here’s what Dean Tzenos had to say as the band heads our way.
We’re really proud to be part of the Austin Music Blogger Awards; it’s going to be a huge success celebrating the Austin music community. While it may not be perfect, we’re doing our best to make it an event that everyone enjoys. So with that in mind, we caught up via email with Jess Williamson, as she tours in support of her recent effort, Native State; she’s nominated for Best Solo Artist. She had a great 2013, and looks like 2014 is shaping up to be another solid year for her. She’ll also be playing at the awards show, so be sure to pick up your tickets HERE.

SXSW comes earlier and earlier every year doesn’t it? Prepared or not, the festival is right around the corner and of course we’re going to get you ready as best we can. Interviews are a great way to get a varying perspective from band and I’m going to kick mine off today with one featuring Brooklyn upstart Clouder. I haven’t know about these guys too long, but what I’m hearing, I’m digging big time. Based on these interview responses, I think I might just like the guys even more. Check it out after the jump.
