Salt Lake Alley Share I’m Always Near

There’s a certain brand of indiepop that always makes me think of discotheques after with fun lighting and easy flowing booze; I see myself in this scene, arms flailing and kicking up my feet on the dance floor while wearing a shit-eating grin across my face. I think of bands like the Lodger, and now I’m thinking of Salt Lake Alley; the Swedish duo with my favorite track of the week dropping today, courtesy of Shelflife. Just listen to the jangling guitars and the way they immediately get your toes tapping, coyly teasing you to join in on the fun in this tune; it’s like listening to the prime-era Smiths, except you know that this band isn’t full of shitty humans. You’ll find this track on their new LP, It Takes Two, out later this year.

Salt Lake Alley Announce It Takes Two

The year’s had some great pop tune, though I’ll be honest, as I’m not quite sure that anything’s really delivered the supreme jangle that I deserve! Well, that all changes today when Salt Lake Alley announce their sophomore LP, on Shelflife no less! From the moment you press play the guitars skate and shimmy, sort of skirting around you speakers as the beat bounces lightly in the background. I love how Mikael and Gustav seem to be trading off vocal roles on this song, adding this real dynamic punch that charms a pop fan like myself. Oh, and please please hang out just pass the 1:37 mark as there’s one hell of a guitar solo just waiting to make you swoon over the hooks. Their new LP, It Takes Two won’t be out until 2022, but you can enjoy the first sample below!

Lo-Fi Grunge From Violent Change

violentchangeI don’t know about y’all, but for me Tuesdays go better with some grunge rock…well, any day sort of goes better with grunge rock. That source of tunes on the darker, grittier side of things today comes from Violent Change, a band out of San Francisco who have got a good thing going with their loud, explosive sound. When you press play on “Unit A,” you’ll be pleased with the waves of distortion that will meet your ears. The vocals are echo-y and far away in the mix, while the guitars are crunchy with gritty noise. It’s a good lo-fi track, and makes me excited to hear more from the band, and lucky for me they’ll be releasing their third LP jointly on Melters and It Takes Two.
