Love This New June Gloom Tune

junegloomNot sure I can stop playing this new track from June Gloom today. Those who grew up in the late 90s/early 00s will surely find some nostalgic feeling in his songwriting…pulling on touches of acts like Pinback or Built to Spill, though things are spun in a magical way that makes the tune ever present in today’s landscape. There’s something overwhelmingly warming about the track, so I hope you play it as much as I have this morning. Look for his debut, Fake Problems, which comes out via Funeral Sound Records on July 15th.

Dreamy Tune from Big Deal

bigdealIt’s often hard for bands to grab a foothold in the United States, but after spending some time with the most recent Big Deal record, I think it’s only fair that I offer up their new single to you guys.  June Gloom was released earlier this summer on Mute; it offers this clever blend of traditional male/female indie rock with a coat of that new shoegaze tradition.  It’s both loud and restrained at once, providing listeners a chance to smile while they’re battered with walls of noise.  Take a chance on these guys; you won’t be let down.

More New Music From Big Deal

jpegBig Deal is a band that I took a liking to after we shared their new song “Teradoctol” with you guys a few months ago.  Today we get another taste of new material with latest single “Dream Machine”.  I hear sounds similar to bands like Races mixed with more electronic based groups like Purity Ring.  Either way, this band is growing on me with each and every spin.

New album June Gloom will be released on June 4th via Mute Reocrds.

Noisy Number from Big Deal

jpegIt seems like Big Deal have decided to up the ante on their blend of electronic bedroom pop, choosing this time to add a full line-up that would help flesh out their sound.  Almost from the moment their new single starts, you can feel the buzzsaw guitars and the pounding rhythmic drumming in your ears, pausing ever so briefly to toss a softer moment in between.  It’s a heavy-handed track, but one that’s exciting in its very approach, offering a new look at the London group.  They’ll be releasing their newest album, June Gloom, on June 4th.  Be sure to hold out for the soaring bit of vocal at the end just before the group breaks into a nice little group chant.
