Wiretree Share Inside

While Kevin Peroni’s been busy working on writing for film and television, he’s still found a fair amount of time to work on his own project, Wiretree. Today, in celebration of Bandcamp Friday, he’s dropped a brand new single, the first new tune we’ve heard since 2020. Working through the melodies in this track, it’s clear that Kevin would fit right alongside other artists like James Mercer or Jason Lytle; I can definitely hear Grandaddy in the way the songs sonic textures intermingle, with loops and beats swimming around the guitar notes. Feel like good old fashioned indie rock, of the pop leaning sort? Well, now’s your chance to try Austin’s Wiretree!

Today you can grab the new Careless Creatures EP from Wiretree, but in case you need a push in the right direction, we wanted to toss out this track to catch your ear. For me, I was sold on the background beat; it’s reminiscent of the simple catchy electro hooks Depeche Mode was crafting in the early 80s…never go outta style. Kevin Peroni’s voice still maintains its usual softness, fitting in perfectly to the bedroom bounce he’s crafted on this tune. Feels sort of like taking late 90s college rock and upping the ante with a big dose of sugar…I don’t mind that at all. Give a listen.
