It looks like the days of us keeping Phoenix in our own little private world are over and getting tickets to one of their shows will be quite the challenge from here on out.  Congrats on the fame guys!  We of course know you’ve heard about the huge 101x sponsored show with Phoenix, White Denim and Hockey at La Zona Rosa.  You probably already know it’s sold out too.  You may have even searched craigslist only to find that tickets are scalping for close to $100!  That’s just silly.  I guess you shouldv’e seen them at ACL.  Don’t fret too much kids, I’m sure they’ll be back around sometime.

So the time has finally arrived for the Metric show at La Zona Rosa on Tuesday and we couldn’t be more excited.  If you aren’t to familiar with the band, check out our review of their most recent LP Fantasies or read our new interview with front woman Emily Haines.  Opening support for Metric will be provided by Band of Skulls.  Don’t pass up the rare chance to see these Canadians melt your heart and face.

So how does a band take a break for close to 30 years and then make a comeback with a tour and brand new album?  Who knows.  I guess people really did like the 60s that much.  If you’re one of those 60s lovers, head down to La Zona Rosa on Sunday night for a set by Brazilian psych-rockers Os Mutantes.  Opening support will provided by Deleon.

So the time has finally come for the big Sunny Day Real Estate show at La Zona Rosa and we couldn’t be more pumped about it.  I hope you’ve read our reviews of the band’s new LP2 & Diary reissues and our old From the Closet feature.  This should hopefully live up to be one of those shows you’ll hate yourself for missing out on.  The Jealous Sound will be providing your opening support.

Austin’s very own rockers, The Murdocks, are busy prepping a new album and have a single ready to drop on the music world.  The new single is called “Lords” and will appear on an as of yet titled album due out sometime this fall.  This is also a great time to mention that the band is playing at La Zona Rosa tonight along with fellow locals Rock and Eagles and Oak Is Keeping.  Tickets will be sold for $7 at the door.
