Slotface Announce Their Debut

Just by clicking the soundcloud stream, you can see that in a mere matter of days, Slotface has started to become a name that will surely be more than just mere buzz. The group delivered a raucous set during SXSW, which was rather surprising considering the Norway group’s young age. This is anthemic rock n’ roll of the best sort, and it carries with it a huge hook that nods to Patti Smith…showing that while they may be young, they know what’s good for you. Be ready to have a rocking good time when the band release Try Not to Freak Out in September.

properThose who’ve been carefully following the underground realm of pop music surely have heard the whispers about The Proper Ornaments.  The band’s often thought of as a side-project for members of Veronica Falls, but you can tell the guys put some time in on the recording of their latest LP, Wooden Head.  There’s nostalgic odes to the past, clever bits of current pop and pretty much as complete an album as you’re likely to find this year.  Slumberland Records continue their summer hit list by releasing this album on July 8th.  Join the club, love this band.

Keep It Pop with The Hongs

hongsAs the title mentions, I’ve been in a pretty pop-centric mood today, trying to stay up on my toes.  So, in that vein, it’s only appropriate that I bring you a new track from The Hongs.  Sure, there’s a bit of a darker underbelly hiding in the song, but if you just stick with the vocals, you can tell that the Florida group definitely have aims to brighten your day.  Other such tracks from the band are currently being offered up on the group’s upcoming Pet Scans EP.  If you’re down to enjoy yourself today, give this track a spin.
