Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever Drop New Tune

After making huge waves in the US with their debut EP for Sub Pop, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever return with a brand new track. This song finds the band very much playing in line with what we’ve come to expect from the band, guitars working atop each other with melody always in the sights. The sharp turn just after the 1 minute marks is a special moment that sets up the chorus of “back on the mainland.” This song hints at great things to come, but no word on a new release. There is, however, a huge list of Spring dates all across Europe and the US, so keep your eyes peeled to see if they’re coming your way.

Digging This Rocker From Mainland

unnamed-4So maybe I’m a few days late to sharing this track, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less good. On the contrary, you should be already clicking on the track to listen now, so that you can make up for my tardiness. Mainland, out of Brooklyn, are releasinga new album before the end of this year and they’ve shared a track from that upcoming LP. “Permission Slip” goes nicely with the everlasting summer we’re having here in the ATX; the ceaseless “oohs” and springy pop guitars scream warm weather and carefree attitude. The vocals also remind me of Modest Mouse a bit in their raspy energy. Take a listen.

New Single From Mainland

11999014_927828163958582_2108589009077429236_nIt’s been quite some time since I’ve heard anything from NYC based group Mainland so I’ve been excited today to hear new music from the guys.  The new single is called “Not As Cool” and is a welcome reminder to why we originally enjoyed the band a few years ago.  This is a pop rock number at its core similar to a band like Wavves with a hint of a band like our amigos Young Girls.  It’s legit.

On Your Radar: Mainland Comes to Austin @ Cheer Up Charlies

mainlandA few weeks ago, I caught wind of this catchy bit of pop from Mainland, a band that hasn’t really been around for too long.  I indulged in a few listens, found myself bobbing my head and tapping these old toes, so I figured it’s best if I shared this with you all, especially since the band is coming our way tomorrow night for a special set at Cheer Up Charlies.  The title of their new EP is Girls Unknown, and you’ll definitely find yourself nodding along to these summery tunes.  Nothing wrong with a good old fashioned pop track.
