Hey man, we’re always just looking out for y’all here at ATH, so I wanted to let you know that the lovely folks at Jurrasic Pop records are letting you stream the new Pfarmers LP, Gunnera, for free for a limited time. Pfarmers is the project of The National’s Bryan Devendorf, Danny Seim of Menomena, and Dave Nelson of St. Vincent…so really with all that talent you should probably give it a listen. Everyone likes free, legal music, right?
Brent Knopf is probably best known for his work in Menomena, but his work with Ramona Falls seems to be leading him in a really remarkable direction. The group will release their second album, Prophet, via Barsuk on May 1st, and I won’t be let down if it sounds anything at all like the track below. It’s got a lot of maneuvering going on musically, with slight bits of beautiful vocals thrown here and there. As it comes to a close, it takes on a more spirited emotion, ending with a track that we won’t soon forget. Better get on this soon; it’s that good. Plus, check out a track they tossed out earlier that I completely skipped over! Sorry about that.

It’s been almost three years since we’ve heard any new material from Menomena. They’re set to release their new album Mines on July 27th on Barsuk Records. Based on this opening track it’s going to be another record of driving riffs and odd time changes, all built to please. There is a sneaking suspicion that this record will make lots of year end lists, just as Friend or Foe, the group’s last project. And on the mic, check it.

One of those classy bros from Menomena has a new solo project under the name Ramona Falls. His record with said name, Intuit, hits stores next week on Barsuk Records, and we’ve got a new little tid bit of tuneage for you to hear. It starts out slowly, but then it bursts forth, which makes many of us salivate for the upcoming release. Buen proveche.

Lackthereof, side project of Menomena drummer Danny Seim, has a new song for you off forthcoming album Your Anchor due out on July 22nd. The song is called “Last November” and it’s planting a seed inside my head and growing a flower. This album could be a surprise best of 2008 pick. Read more about Lacktthereof over on da myspace.
