Last Week’s Jams (2.5 – 2.9)

We had a windows down car drive end to the week, so here we are looking at all the hits we covered in the last week. There were a few jams like the new single from Gentleman Jesse or the Pheromoans latest that aren’t anywhere on DPS, but we’ve got tons of other jams from the week. I really loved the new bops from Johnnie Carwash, Icarus Phoenixand Flowertown, while Ray snuck in some new Mini Trees and Acid Tongue. Plus, we tried to suggest you take listens to new LPs from Itasca, David Nance, Dead Bandit and Pylon Reenactment Society, so if anything, sample a tune here and there from the new records. Get in and drive with Last Week’s Jams.

Checkout Shapeshifter From Mini Trees

Oh how we adore Lexi Vega and her musical project known as Mini Trees. She’s been bringing us hit after hit for the last several years, and this new tune “Shapeshifter” proves to be yet another jam for her repertoire. Often time people can confuse indie pop with things from just a straight radio ready pop style, but this track perfectly hits on both elements of indie with hints of pop. I can’t get enough of it.

This track is part of a new EP entitled Burn Out which is due on March 1st via Run For Cover Records.

Jams From Last Week 7/27-7/31

It was a bit of a slower week for us on the new music side of things, but we still had a few jams for from the last week of July. You’ll see some recurring artists here like Tummyache and Meatbodies but also new to us music like The Enigmatic Foe or Treeboy & Arc. It’s a shorter one this week so it should be great for your Monday morning or afternoon commute. Stay dry!

Mini Trees Deliver A Hit

We’ve certainly loved seeing the musical progression and sonic maturation of L.A. based Lexi Vega and her project known as Mini Trees. After tons of praise over the last few years, Vega is back in 2021 with a new album coming in September which will feature this new single “Carrying On”. You will definitely want to take some time to check out this bright, fresh and catchy new tune from Mini Trees.

New album Always in Motion will drop on September 17th via Run for Cover Records.

Enjoy a New Single from Mini Trees

Sometimes it takes a long while to sort of wade through the waters of life, especially for drummers. But, Lexi Vega has made it through, stepped out from behind the drum kit and crafted this brilliant new EP under the name Mini Trees. Our first listen has this really soft tone throughout, but there’s enough of a natural hook that really draws you over. I’m personally taken aback by Vega’s performance, she sort of lets her voice ride up and down on the melody, while never trying to overdo things. I’ve got high expectations for the Steady Me EP, which will drop this May.
