More New Nathan K

Just last month I dropped news of new Nathan K music on the way, and now we’ve got another single from Nathan as he preps the release of the Bridges EP. On this new tune, there’s a fragility and intimacy brought by the vocal delivery, lying somewhere between Rogue Wave and Death Cab. Lyrically, the song seems to leave the listener with a glimmer of hope, despite the morose concept present in the song’s title “If I Die.” For me, the ultimate reward, as per usual, is that Nathan just crafts these really great pop songs; he’s not doing anything outlandish or gimmicky, just relying upon melody and hooks, and I love it. Look for the new EP on April 20th.

New Music from Nathan K

Nathan K first came onto my radar with 2014’s Methodist Girls, and since then, I’ve kept close ties on his work. He just released a new track from his forthcoming Bridges EP, and it continues his growth from bedroom songwriter to powerful pop perfection. This song is louder than most of his previous work, but the way he softens his notes on the vocal delivery still carries a great deal of intimacy for listeners…and that’s something I’ll always stand behind. He’ll also be making his way to Austin for SXSW, so perhaps you’ll want to add him to acts you’d like catch.

nathankJust over a month ago Nathan K dropped a great tune that reminded me why I love his music so much; it’s bedroom pop with a little more lush production. Now, he’s just announced his Silver Beach Boys EP, and with it comes this splendid new tune. The tune itself is pretty simple, at least in its construction, but man, I’m just hooked on this number and want you to play it again and again too! Sometimes that special song seeps into your soul, and this track from Nathan is burrowing deep in my soul today. His new EP comes out Friday, so enjoy this tune before he blows up!

nathankWednesday’s are for finding the hits to get you through the rest of the week, and luckily this new tune from Nathan K is doing just fine for me. The song’s little more than a man, his guitar and his voice; it’s all executed perfectly, which is why I’ve always loved songwriters like Nathan. He’s giving this track away, though there seems to be some sad sentiment in the song’s message/little note; I’m hoping everything’s okay on that end. Regardless, enjoy a great song and look into Nathan’s work while you’ve got the chance.

Enjoy the Music of Nathan K

nathankSometimes you need to just let yourself indulge in the softer side of music, so do the right thing and listen to this track from Nathan K. The Michigan songwriter has just announced a new album, Methodist Girls, and we’ve got this down-trodden affair to get you ready for what we expect will be a beautiful piece of work.  It’s actually a quiet track from the beginning, occasionally accented by some lush string arrangements.  Nathan’s voice has a slight echo to it, yanking on your emotional heartstrings.  This song, and possibly this album, will have you fading into your own memory.  Look for the release on July 8th.

I’ve really veen enjoying this beautiful new track called “Most Birthdays” from songwriter Nathan K.  To me, I’m reminded a bit of some of the greatest tracks from the likes of other great groovy songwriters like War on Drugs.  Nathan has some other great tracks over on his bandcamp page and you should also like him on facebook.  Stay tuned for more information on an upcoming album.  You’ll hear it here first!

New Music from Nathan K

I was first introduced to Nathan K‘s music while listening to his other group, Stepdad, but now he’s stepped out for just a minute to offer up a brand new album of really mellow tunes.  All these songs stem from time spent with his dying grandfather in the hospital, which clearly makes this a very personal album for him.  Clearly, it’s not the most uplifting affair, but he’s really done an incredible job allowing us a brief view into this experience.  All these songs appear on his release Dishes, with the majority of these tunes recorded late at night on a four-track while he tended to his ailing grandfather.  Sometimes with great tragedy we see great beauty.
