Nap Eyes Share So Tired Lyric Video

With Snapshot of a Beginner on the near horizon, we’re excited that there’s another Nap Eyes tune out there to give us a little taste of what we’re to expect. This track feels pretty bare at the song’s beginning, which perhaps can be owed to Nigel Chapman really focusing on the message of the song. But, shortly in, the song sort of erupts into slide guitars and jazzy solos that cut across the song’s core. It all returns to the solemnity and weariness of the verses to close things out. Look for the new LP to drop on March 27th courtesy of Jagjaguwar and Paradise of Bacheolors.

Paul Bergmann is a Lover of the Good Times

Paul Bergmann is a shapeshifting songwriter, moving in and out of genres, working on new musical goals…and no matter what, he’s found a fan in me. His latest single has this natural charm to it; it even gets a slight bit fuzzy in the song’s latter half, adding power to Bergmann’s voice, adding a sense of longing to this ballad. Honestly, I think this might be one of my favorite vocal performances by him, to date; he’s got this great control, even over the slightest wavering (I also keep confusing ‘good times’ with ‘cold-blooded old times’). Hopefully this just means there’s more great music around the bend, as there almost assuredly is such in every tune Paul shares. Buen proveche.

Buke and Gase Bring New Song

bukakkeThere’s some experiment going on within the Buke and Gase camp, and while I don’t completely understand the process of it all, I know that it’s led to this interesting new tune.  Apparently they’ve challenged themselves to creative improv marathons, then fleshing out recordings as they learn new instruments; it would seem that pushing themselves fit them well. This song has a pulse to it that pulls you into the track, not to mention the distinctive qualities of Arone. No word on whether this tune will appear later in their recording career or they just wanted to toss you out of a taste of their continued progression, but here’s the tune nonetheless.

More New Jams from Natural Child

This last year has seen us fall head over heels in love with Natural Child, and we’re glad that the release date is drawing close for their latest release Hard In Heaven, which hits stores next week.  This new track appeared yesterday on Diffuser.fm, and I particularly love the live feeling in the recording.  It’s got the raw energy that surfaces when the band takes the stage, yet it’s got that clear Southern rock nostalgia in the songwriting that is sure to make these guys a hit with anyone who has ears. Next week you’re going to have a great record in your hands, I guarantee it.
