Olivia’s World Announce New EP

A few days behind on the world, but who really cares, as I’m always on board for a good tune from Olivia’s World. The first minute and beyond seems more like an intoxicating drink, seducing you into the song before the group decide to let you in on their joyousness. Alice’s voice has this natural pop embellishment, which sits perfectly in the song’s fuzzier moments that are crafted in the song’s latter half. Those of you hunting for a song that feels heavy yet somehow is uplifting will take note of this number. Tuff 2B Tender will be released on April 23rd via Lost Sound Tapes.

The Year in Indiepop…According to Nathan

As we’re all looking back on the year 2019, I tend to gravitate towards lists with little agenda, other than to shine a light back on the year in the areas I adore. For one, the indiepop scene. Now, there’s always a great big debate about what indie pop is, so for all intents and purposes, I admit that I just don’t care, so the genre’s purists can yell at me later. Now, this may read as a best of, but merely this is the stuff that stuck out in my brain, so if I missed something, I love you and I’m sorry. Honestly, it just gave me a chance to make a fun playlist (2+ hours!) full of hits for all you pop fans.

Olivia’s World Share Blotter Video

A few weeks ago, I went out of my way to encourage you to listen to Olivia’s World and their latest track; I even vaguely reference Rose M’s participation, but I suppose if you don’t come out and say it, no one’s like to do the research. Alas, the band’s back with a video for the tune, so maybe that’s a chance to get you caught back up in the joy of this tune…plus, for what its worth, this track belongs on repeat all day. I kind of figure that folks are getting back into the jangle a little, or maybe they’re just going to look into the band’s current Aussie locale as reason to get in on the tune. Regardless, the track rules, and it’ll be released on the new EP, out October 25th via Lost Sound Tapes.

Hook Laden Guitar Pop from Olivia’s World

Back in January we were introduced to Olivia’s World via the tune “Cereal Boxes;” it was the first I had heard of the project, though their drummer seemed a familiar name. Finally we get news that Olivia’s World EP is on its way! There’s another tune for you to devour too, which is the EP’s opening number; it’s a tune heavily reliant upon the rhythm section, with both bass and drums getting you tapping those little toes. The guitars have this light distorted jangle keeping the energy going, which seems fair as lead songwriter Alice Rezende happens to call Australia home. The Olivia’s World EP will be out October 25th via Lost Sound Tapes. Happy Friday.

Pleased to Meet You: Olivia’s World

You’re working through your day, enjoying various tunes, and suddenly Rose Melberg’s name pops up under new releases. You scour the Internet, you rush to find the track…lo and behold, there’s Olivia’s World, a new band featuring Rose on drums, with friends Lica and Joe joining in. The trio craft that insatiable sort of pop, high on fuzzy, hook-laden guitars, and heavy on the sugary vocals that make any listener swoon. The video is playful, attached to the feeling of the song, with Lica seemingly having the most fun with her shark impression. Lost Sound Tapes promise to have a cassette EP out this Spring…but it’ll sell out quick if the songs are all as good as this.
