Some More Free Week Pics…

I still love Free Week. Went out and about again and saw a whole different set of random people. I learned a friend’s girlfriend’s dad goes by the name Bush Pounder. I learned a kind soul was leaving us for Puerto Rico, but would be returning for fests and touring gigs. Little known fact, flights to cities in the US from Austin are about the same as flights from Puerto Rico.

It was a whole different set of bands and a different chunk of venues. Here is the rundown: Empire to see out friends in Bali Yaaah and Hours Quiet, Barracuda for Midriff, ATH Records’ Pollen RX, Stiletto Feels, Otis The Destroyer and Flesh Lights with a quick jaunt to Swan Dive to see what Casey Beans was all about as a solo thing.

New Stuff From ATH Records

It’s the end of the week, so why not wrap it up by highlight some great tunes that came from our little ATH Records label.

The excellent Gold Flake Paint wrote up about Tres Oui‘s new single, “Prince of Pop.” You can read what Tom had to say HERE. Grab it HERE. Oh. We’re co-releasing it with Square of Opposition…who helped us start the label by sharing the OG Literature LP with us!

Then, Pure Volume hooked us up with apreview of the title track from Pollen Rx‘s debut LP, Sunbelt Emptiness. Check that piece out HERE, and grab it HERE.

And of course, extra streams below for the cause!

Check Out This New Pollen RX Tune

pollenSo, as we wrap up the rad year of 2016, I’m already looking towards what ATH Records can bring you in 2017! First up, the brilliant band of popsters, Pollen Rx, aim to take Austin by storm with their excellent debut, Sunbelt Emptiness. It was recorded here in town by Ian Rundell, and I think he killed it; it’s filled to the brim with the perfect blend of punk and pop, discord and harmony. I can guarantee you there’s not a bad hit on this record, but you should judge for yourself by listening to this new single (a demo version was floating around, but it’s since been re-recorded). Look for the LP from us on January 27, or pre-order it HERE.

Show Preview: Tele Novella Release New Album @ Barracuda Tonight

teleIt’s Halloween, or so it has been for the last few days, but it all culminates tonight. What better way to celebrate than by donning your favorite costume and catching Tele Novella as they release their latest album into the world; it’s a stunning piece of pop, btw. Plus, the band has worked hard to decorate Barracuda and create a haunting atmosphere. Still, you have to show up early as some of the best bands in town will help kick the evening off: Deep Time, Big Bill and Pollen Rx. This is one of those shows where you get to have fun with your friends, dress up in costume and enjoy some of the best rock n’ roll the city has to offer. Hope to see you there!

Tonight: Roaring Sun, Growl, Pollen Rx @ Mohawk

athshowFrom time to time, we hereat the ATH like to put on shows for you all in Austin, and it just so happens we have couple of gigs lined up this week, with our first coming tonight at Mohawk following the Anthony Green set. We’ve recently agreed to work with Pollen Rx on their debut full-length, Sunshine Emptiness, so if you’ve yet to check them out, tonight’s a good time. Growl, one of our long time favorites, return to the stage after taking a few months off to wrap up their own album and work on some other projects…never an act to miss. Plus, Roaring Sun get the headline spot, with these youngsters grabbing our attention with their recent hard work and rad new songs, like the one below.

Show Pics: ATH Goes Back To School

Summer SaltNathan summed it up in a book face post. He, with Mike’s help, runs a label that is proud of the content, proud of the people, happy to be helping bands in Austin have merch to sell and fund the next project. It is a ton of work; pursuing, promoting, logistics and coordination. I am happy to be associated with ATH records.

Hit the read more and view the greatness of Pollen Rx, Mean Jolene, Rose Selavy, Plantation Band, Young Girls, Basketball Shorts, Summer Salt and Shivery Shakes (in drag).

Come to the Pollen Rx Tour Kick-Off @ Cheer Ups (7.21)

pollenWe’ve had a great year at ATH Records, and we’re not looking to slow down. We’re working on projects with Mean Jolene at the moment, and Pollen Rx! Hopefully those in Austin are taking note, and getting as excited as we are. Speaking of Pollen Rx, they’re about to head out on the road for two weeks, but they aim to kick it off with a blast of a show at Cheer Up Charlies tomorrow night. Not only are they a band to watch, but we’ve also got ATH Records alumni Shivery Shakes and Slack Capital vets, Que Pasa on the bill. Come hang out with us all.

Oh, and the below song will appear on the debut Pollen Rx LP, but in a different version…so keep an eye out for news.
