This great pop tune called “Faded Glory” from Minneapolis based group Gingko has been spinning on my iPod for awhile and I just realized that I had yet to post it to ATH. It’s a great pop tune that is really bringing to mind images of a young Dent May or even Albert Hammond Jr. in his solo career. If you’ve been around this website before, you know that we’re down for such things.
New album Manopause will be available September 3rd via ibid Records.

Shark Week is a band that I have enjoyed since last fall, but really fell head over heels for when they stopped in for SXSW this year. Back in May I shared a new song called “Go West” appearing on the band’s new 7″ single dropping at the end of the month on Analog Edition. Prior to that date, the band have been kind enough to offer up the B-side to that single “Baby Maybe”. Let us know your thoughts.

Upon first listen to new track “Stairs Under Stars” from Celestial Shores, most will immediately compare the band to fellow experimental pop hit makers Dirty Projectors. I’m sure most bands would take such a comparison as a compliment so lets say they mix Projectors with a touch of some swirly/surfy guitars thrown in for good measure. Check out the track below and let us know what you think.
New album, 10x, is due out September 3rd on Hometapes & Local Singles Records.

It’s the perfect time of year for a song like this one from Seattle based Hibou. The surfy and jangly vibe should be perfect to carry you along your way to the beach or possibly the lake. Hit play on “Sunder” and start your summer relaxation off the right way.
Hibou has a new EP entitled Dunes out June 13th.

There is Danger hail from Phoenix, AZ and they just so happened to get in touch with us recently about some new music they’ve been working on. Their style is what I might call irresistible to anyone with a pulse for music. The pop moments as they build and build create some truly superb pop music that anyone could get into. Our free track below, “Passport”, demonstrates that slow build which leads into a pop guitar riff and beat that could rival the likes of similar big indie names like Grizzly Bear or even Youth Lagoon. Bold comparisons I know, but the band seems worthy if you ask me.
Others into the music should head over to bandcamp for a pay what you want download of the group’s new LP Living Dreams.

The Love Language is a band that has long been a favorite around these parts, so we deemed it necessary to share their new song with you even though we may be a little late on reporting it. This new track “Calm Down” features a bit more rock n roll, driving force behind it than what we are maybe used to from the band. I don’t really see that as a bad thing and could even call it a bit more of a grown up sound. That’s cool.
New album Ruby Red is due out July 23rd on Merge Records.

Here’s a new song called “Tiny People” from Tucson based 4 piece group Dream Sick. I’m sure many of you have never heard of the group before, and I’ll admit that I hadn’t either until a few days ago, so let this serve as an introduction to the band for you and me. Having just released new album Morkkis by their own accord, the band have been working hard to get the word out to waiting music fans. At the core, these guys create some nice pop tunes with reverby swirling guitars that can create some special moments in their music. Check out the song below and maybe get your hands on the band’s new album via bandcamp.

Radiation City is a band that I’ve always found intriguing with a unique take on pop music mixing in elements of jazz and synths into their sounds. For those new to the band, below is a sample of what I’m getting at with new song “So Long”. The driving beat throughout plays as a nice backbone to the chanting vocals and swirling keys/synths. Stick around towards the end as the guitars finally kick in and provide a nice rocking bridge to finish out this beautiful pop tune.
New album Animals in the Median is due out May 21st on Tender Loving Empire.

Brooklyn is a city that tends to throw all kinds of awesome pop music our way on a daily basis. This new song “Eyes Wide” from the biggest indie pop city in the world band Steady Sun is no different. It’s simple, airy, and a fun jerky sort of pop song that can’t be resisted by even the most unmovable music critic. Well, I like it anyway.
A full album entitled Good Evening is available for stream on bandcamp.

Glasgow continues to be almost like an American version of Brooklyn with countless quality indie bands popping up what seems like daily. This new act to me, Yakuri Cable, is yet another band from the area that has perked up my ears today. Their sound immediately makes me think of fellow Scots My Latest Novel as the minimalistic and deep vocals could almost be the same lead singer. Is it? Things veer away from comparisons as the band add in some interesting synths in the back and give us a nice little pop rock out with this song “Line of Sight”.
If you’re into it, the band have a full 5 song EP entitled Beginnings available for stream on bandcamp.
