The Persian Leaps Share Alright Alright Single

On the first single from the forthcoming Machines for Living, you got a glimpse at the purest of power-pop from The Persian Leaps. This time around, their latest single’s got a bit more of a heavier vibe; the riffs that rock throughout almost feel like a demonic rock-a-billy fuzz, albeit one accented by melodic vocals. Honestly, it’s like you decided to throw early Queens of a Stone Age into a ring with Teenage Fanclub, just looking for the sounds to pick a fight with one another; I’m dubbing it power-rock. With the infectious refrain of “Alright Alright,” the band have another way to entice you to give Machines for Living a chance; it drops on October 7th.

Genuine Leather Share Three Chord Song

Austin act Genuine Leather always seem to have something up their sleeve, and this week’s no difference as they’ve just shared a brand new track from their forthcoming EP. At the moment, the band seems super-intent upon just rocking anthemic pop songs. I can hear little hints of Elvis Costello curl in the vocals delivered, while also hearing a nod to power-pop heroes across the board. It’s infectious and hits hard, especially if you’re willing to let your speakers hit full blast. You’ve got appreciate the band’s push to craft a pop song within the confines of 3 chords…and pull it off no less. Their EP is slated for release later this year, but you can catch the band at Mohawk tomorrow night (9/21) with Blood, Nick Adamo, Reen & the Renegades.

Brand New Set of Tunes from Frail

frailSomewhere along the lines of running this blog I stumbled onto Frail, excited by the band’s blend of pop structures and punk tinge. Admittedly, they’re like the heavier version of Nada Surf, bringing in a great sense of melody, though with a quicker pace. Plus, the songs are rather short and infectious, making them perfect for repeated listens throughout your day. Sugar Heaven just popped up yesterday, so you’ve got plenty of time to absorb the hits before your friends catch on to how cool you truly are, so give ita long listen.
